Over 2022, is proud to have provided training on Human Trafficking Investigation to more than 120+ officers of the Summerville Police Department.

The training has given officers ways to identify human trafficking victims during their day to day interaction with the public, proactive techniques on how to generate their own human trafficking cases and suggestions on how to interview victims without inducing more trauma.

DHT UPDATE: 1 SURVIVOR RESCUED

Although we are not specialized in after-care programs, we will NEVER ignore a call for help.
Today we were able to help a survivor who was brave enough to come forward.
We found and connected them to the right after-care program that would address their medical, psychiatric and social needs and help them on their path to healing.

BCM Anti-Human Trafficking Program is a hospital-based program providing mental health and care coordination services to victims and survivors of human trafficking across the Houston-area.

Facebook is the most commonly used social media platform for human s*x trafficking recruitment in the US, according to the 2020 Federal Human Trafficking Report.

❌ 59% of victims in active human trafficking cases in the US in 2020 who were recruited through social media were found through Facebook.

❌ Facebook was the most common platform for child recruitment, with 65% of child victims recruited on social media being recruited through Facebook.

❌ After Facebook, the next most common venues for online socialization of child victims were Instagram and Snapchat.

❌ In 2020, the Internet was the most common venue for victim recruitment.

The report, made by The Human Trafficking Institute, draws its data from active federal criminal and civil human trafficking cases.

Traffickers are exploiting 25 million people annually, generating a profit of $150 Billion a year.

On this day, we want to reaffirm our commitment to prevent this industry from thriving and we invite YOU all to join the fight to help disrupt human trafficking.

With cases of human trafficking on the rise in South Carolina, DHT has decided to invest additional resources to help local Law Enforcement and Agencies and combat the issue locally.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson previously reported a 360% increase from 2019 to 2020 in the total number of trafficking victims recorded in the state.

With the pandemic continuously isolating the most vulnerable part of the population, Polaris Project also saw a 40% increase in cases from April 2019 to 2020.

The International Labor Organization estimates that 40.3 million men, women and children are subjected to human trafficking per year.
However this comes from research data and the true figure is likely far higher than the current estimates.
