Your fall calendar needs something just for YOU.

Daughters of Haiti invites you to Fall Into Wellness, a gathering centered on Haitian women’s health, self care, and sisterhood.

We’re bringing together health and wellness professionals for blood pressure checks, voluntary depression screenings, skincare analysis, weight assessments, and education about stroke prevention, asthma, and the impact of COVID. An opportunity to know your numbers, ask questions, and connect with resources for your next steps.

Our wellness panel will explore weight, menopause, nutrition, and emotional health, with professionals sharing practical guidance and making room for the conversations women need to have.

Your Wellness Passport is your guide! Visit the stations, speak with professionals, and collect punches along the way. Complete your passport to enter the raffle. Screenings are optional, and educational conversations count, too.

Add gentle yoga, healthy snacks, health and beauty vendors, goodies, and time with women who understand how often we put ourselves last. This is a fall gathering you’ll want to be part of.

When someone asks what you have planned this week, does your answer include anything for you?

Between work, family, and community responsibilities, our own time can disappear quickly. Even something we enjoy becomes another thing we will get to later.

This Thriving Thursday, put one thing on your calendar that you want to do. Read a chapter. Listen to music. Call a friend who makes you laugh. Enjoy your coffee without doing three other things.

And let’s help each other make that time possible. Offer to take something off another woman’s plate, or ask for the help you need.

Before we could organize through group chats and social media, Haitian women were gathering, raising money, and working together to demand change.

Alice Garoute was one of those women.

In 1934, she helped establish the Ligue Féminine d’Action Sociale, an organization that advanced women’s rights in Haiti. Her work included community organizing, fundraising, and advocacy for women’s participation in public life.

Her story reminds us that progress takes people willing to do the work between the big moments. Someone has to bring women together, follow up, gather resources, and keep the conversation moving.

Emeline Michel brings Haiti with her when she sings.

From her beginnings in a church choir in Gonaïves to international stages, she has built a musical career that blends Haitian rhythms with jazz, blues, and pop. Her work also reaches young learners through Carnegie Hall’s Musical Explorers program, introducing children to Haitian music and culture.

That matters. Our children deserve to hear our language and recognize our culture in places where people come to learn.
