Sometimes the most important thing a community can preserve is simply space. 🌲🐕🥾

Space to walk.
Space to explore.
Space to bring the dog.
Space to get away from the noise and reconnect with the outdoors.

Dune Harbor Muskegon County Park in Norton Shores gives our community 377 acres of dunes, forests, wetlands, inland lakes and trails to explore—all just minutes from some of Muskegon County’s most populated communities.

And places like this can become even more valuable when they’re connected.

The Shoreline Trails & Greenways Plan envisions Dune Harbor as part of a larger network, with trails within the park and future connections that could link it with surrounding communities, existing pathways and ultimately Lake Michigan.

Because parks aren’t just destinations.

They’re places to walk the dog after work. Places for kids to explore. Places to hike with friends. Places to watch wildlife, move our bodies, clear our heads and spend time together.

Protecting open space—and making it easier for people to reach it—is an investment in the kind of community we want Muskegon County to be.

Why are Muskegon County residents supporting parks and trails? 🌲🚲🌊

We asked people right here in our community — and their answers say a lot about what makes Muskegon County such a special place to call home.

Our parks, trails, rivers, lakes and natural spaces aren’t just places on a map. They’re where we walk the dog. Where our kids ride their bikes. Where families spend summer afternoons. Where we exercise, explore, gather and reconnect with nature.

And there’s an opportunity to invest in their future.

A YES vote for Muskegon County Parks + Trails can help support improvements to county and local parks, expand trail connections and create greater access to the incredible natural resources that surround us.

We asked Muskegon County residents to name their favorite place to get outside, and the answers reminded us just how many incredible parks, trails, waterways, and natural spaces we have right here at home.

Maybe it’s the trail you ride every week. The park where your kids grew up playing. The beach you head to after work. Or that quiet stretch of woods you go to when you need to unplug.

These places are part of what makes Muskegon County feel like home. 💚

Welcome everyone to the MAPGC Page, especially Labor Day parade people who might scanned 👀 our QR Code looking for all the info.

We 💚 our parks and trails and are working hard to bring all the support we can to them while also connecting people together.

That means this Fall we are working to get the word out about a major opportunity to pass a Countywide Parks and Trails Millage!! It will support:

- County Parks
- Local Parks
- Regional Trails
- Much more!
