Upcycle Uptown

Upcycle Uptown "Upcycle Uptown" is an After School Matters program designed to educate and encourage teens to reconsider the usefulness of disposable or discarded objects.

It is designed to work in opposition to consumer culture. afterschoolmatters.org We take these objects and repurpose them to make them valuable, useful, or simply aesthetically pleasing. Upcycling is designed to work in opposition of consumer culture, encouraging teens to think of new and innovative ways to use things, instead of simply buying new consumer goods. It also benefits the community by promoting reuse over discarding whenever possible.

Took a trip over to the Uptown Farmers Market at Weiss Memorial Hospital to meet some of the local farmers and talk about the importance of buying local. We also took a trip to the top of the hospital parking garage to check out the garden they have which includes chickens!!!

Hello All! Region One is having their After School Matters Showcase tomorrow at North Grand High School! Teens will be picked up right after school from Uplift and bussed to North Grand where you can enjoy a few performances, get a good dinner, and show off all the work you made during the semester with Upcycle Uptown. The buses will drop you back off at Uplift by 8:00pm. I hope you all can make it!
