As a progressive rescue support organization, Felines of Chicago is committed to making a difference in the community. Our mission is to be a go-to resource for rescues and fosters, as well as the general population to help build no-kill communities. We are able to provide assistance to local rescues through our donation program, fundraising, foster recruitment program and by providin

g education and awareness to the community. Our programs include working with the community to sterilize stray, community and feral cats through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), educational workshops, medical sponsorship along with other support programs to help people to keep their cats or re-home them safely and responsibly. Our educational mission is focused on educating fosters and the public on responsible pet ownership with the emphasis on spaying and neutering to reduce population. We assist cats not only in Chicago, but in Illinois and out of state when possible. CORE VALUES

Bunny was originally a Felines of Chicago case when she came into care horribly injured in November of 2024.

She has had a long journey since then, including a pelvis surgery, tail removal, a failed adoption - but also an incredibly story of healing.

She has overcome all odds, and is a happy and healthy girl who is just missing her forever family.

Felines of Chicago has continued to sponsor her adoption fee over these past few years to help her find her forever family. 💗

If you’ve been following us for awhile, you probably recognize Bunny. And if you do, you also know she’s been with us for far too long. 💔

Bunny came into rescue after being found horribly injured on the streets of Chicago in November 2024. Her injuries were severe, and her road to recovery was anything but easy. This brave girl underwent pelvis surgery, a tail amputation, and months of careful healing. Through it all, Bunny showed nothing but resilience, strength, and a will to keep going.

Today, Bunny is fully healed and absolutely thriving — and she’s finally ready to find the loving forever home she has waited so patiently for. 🐾

Bunny is an incredibly sweet and affectionate girl who truly loves her people. She has a curious, adventurous personality and is almost dog-like — she’ll happily come when called and wants to be involved in whatever you’re doing. Whether you’re working, relaxing, or moving around the house, Bunny just wants to be by your side.

Because she loves soaking up all the attention, Bunny would do best as the only pet in the home where she can be the center of your world.

Due to her past injuries, Bunny does experience some urinary leakage. She reliably uses the litter box for bowel movements and otherwise lives a happy, active life without needing additional special care. She doesn’t let her past slow her down one bit.

Bunny has been through so much, but her spirit has never dimmed. She’s full of love, personality, and resilience — and she’s more than ready to share it all with a family of her own.

To help Bunny finally find her perfect match, her adoption fee has been generously sponsored by Felines of Chicago. Now all that’s missing is someone willing to open their heart and give this incredible girl the forever home she deserves.

After everything she’s been through… it’s finally Bunny’s turn!

Frank’s face when he learned we SURPASSED our fundraising goal for him! 🤩🥳

Thank you so much to everyone who donated to Frank’s medical care. He is back at his temporary foster home and recovering! We got him fully vetted thanks to your donations, and x-rays of his pelvis to see what the injuries were.

Unfortunately - Frank does have a fractured pelvis. The break isn’t severe, and the recommended treatment is 3 months cage rest for his recovery. Right now due to his injury Frank is experiencing some incontinence. We aren’t sure if this is going to be a longterm issue, but time will tell.

We’re looking for a foster for Frank’s recovery that can keep him on cage rest. This can be in either a large dog kennel, small space, etc. Limiting his movement and preventing jumping is the key part of ensuring proper recovery.

He’s a nice boy despite his injuries - so just needs a loving, calm place to land while he gets back on his feet (literally 😅).

Let us know if you’re interested in fostering Frank!

This is something we’ve been struggling with for years.

We post a sweet, loving, at-risk cat like the one on the right—desperate for rescue or a foster—and it’s crickets.

Then we post cat with blue eyes, fluffy fur, flame point markings, etc… and suddenly our inbox is overflowing. Multiple offers. People competing for the chance to take them home.

Why? Does one deserve a chance more than the other… or is one just more desirable?

Because from where we stand, they are the same. Same capacity to love. Same need for safety. Same life on the line.

We believe every cat deserves a chance at life, love, and a forever family, not just the “fancy” ones.

We are so incredibly proud of our board member April’s Kittens now opening her own licensed rescue. For those who know April, no one is more committed to helping the most stigmatized medical cases. We have witnessed her take on the most complicated and vulnerable medical cases over the years, and watched them thrive and recover under her loving care.

Felines of Chicago is proud to partner with her, and are excited to see her success with opening her brick & mortar rescue location in Forest Park this Spring.

Wow.. after so many years in the making, we finally have our OWN licensed shelter 🥹❤️

Our doors are almost ready to open to the public & we cannot WAIT to show you what we’ve been working on 💗

Today, on International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the incredible women who make animal welfare possible.

Felines of Chicago was founded by women and continues to be run by women who are deeply committed to helping cats in our city. Every day, we’re inspired by the compassion, resilience, and dedication of the women who step up for animals who need them most.

Women make up the majority of the animal welfare workforce. From shelter staff and veterinarians to foster caregivers, volunteers, and advocates. We are so proud to stand alongside so many remarkable women working tirelessly to create a better future for cats.

To every woman who has opened her home, raised her voice, or given her time to help an animal in need - we thank you. Your work matters, and it makes our community stronger.

Happy International Women’s Day. 🤍

Happy International Cat Day from Felines of Chicago! 🐾

Today, we celebrate the cats who steal our hearts, fill our homes, and remind us why this work matters so deeply.

From the tiniest kittens to the overlooked seniors… from the shy and fearful to the bold and affectionate… every cat deserves safety, compassion, and a chance at a better life.

In a city like Chicago, where thousands of cats are still waiting for help, this day is more than just a celebration - it’s a reminder of why we show up, every single day.

Because behind every rescued cat is a network of fosters, adopters, rescuers, and supporters making that second chance possible.

Thank you for being part of this lifesaving community. Thank you for caring. Thank you for helping us build a more feline-friendly Chicago. 🤍

Felines of Chicago stands alongside advocates, rescuers, and community members in calling for a national search for a qualified Executive Director at Chicago Animal Care & Control.

This moment required transparency, collaboration, and a commitment to meaningful change. Instead, moving forward without a thorough, nationwide search disregards the concerns raised by those closest to this work - and the animals who depend on it.

Chicago’s animals deserve experienced, accountable leadership. Our city deserves a system that is humane, effective, and built on trust.

We remain committed to advocating for:
• Humane conditions
• Accountable leadership
• A system that truly serves both animals and the community

We NEED your voice and support.

If your alderperson signed the letter calling for a national search-thank them. If they have not - contact them today and ask them to stand with the community.

Alderpersons who have signed:
Daniel La Spata, Desmon Yancy, Byron Sigcho-Lopez, Ruth Cruz, Andre Vasquez, Matt Martin, Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth, Maria Hadden, Brian Hopkins, Peter Chico, Nicole T. Lee, Matthew J. O’Shea, Chris Taliaferro, Scott Waguespack, Gilbert Villegas, Emma Mitts, Brendan Riley

Chicago can and MUST do better.
