Illinois Communication and Theatre Association ICTA is a professional association for high school and higher education teachers and coaches of commu

The goals of ICTA are:

To advocate the communication and theatre disciplines as independent, yet interdependent, components of education and society in general. To develop, support, and advance communication and theatre education, instruction, and pedagogy. To prepare students for further education, social and career opportunities, by developing critical thinking, research, oral & written communication, and technological skills. To identify & serve the needs of a diverse membership through a variety of professional programs and activities. To become well known, highly valued, and frequently consulted by educational, organizational, and public audiences (such as Illinois State Board of Education, Illinois Board of Higher Education and the Illinois Community College Board) on such topics as certification, professional development, and high stakes testing. To foster the development of future teachers of communication, theatre, and language arts. To collaborate with other professional organizations such as Illinois Association for the Teaching of English, Illinois Theatre Association and the Illinois Arts Alliance. To secure and manage financial and human resources that support our priorities effectively. To increase state and regional membership by being accessible and responsive to current and prospective members. To develop and disseminate print and electronic resources that serve members, as well as larger academic and public communities.

Hey, ICTA!

We are officially a few days away from convention and we are so excited to reconnect with everyone.

Additionally, we have a few words from our very own Anthony Zoubek about The Big Ticket Raffle 👀🎟️

At this year’s ICTA convention, we are adding a new fundraising feature: The Big Ticket Raffle. This activity is open to all ICTA members—anyone who purchases raffle tickets will have the chance to win some big ticket prizes.

Raffle tickets are $15 each. You can buy as many tickets as you want, and tickets go on sale today. We will also sell tickets at the convention.
Winners will be drawn after the last session. Even if you are not attending the convention, you can purchase tickets now!

The Big Ticket packages include a restored seat from Wrigley Field, used between 1920 and 1965, in the popular lower box section, along with other Cubs-related memorabilia…a restored seat from the Chicago Stadium, former home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawk, in addition to other Hawks and Bulls-oriented smaller items…and a limited edition piece of pop-art by the street artist Banksy, given to VIP guests of an art show in Chicago.

To remind, the Big Ticket Raffle is open to all ICTA members and not just those attending the convention, with winners being drawn next Saturday afternoon. There is no limit on how many tickets you can buy.

How can ICTA better support and elevate theatre educators and artists across Illinois? What are significant issues theatre programs are experiencing? Attendees are encouraged to share ideas and perspectives for future growth and advocacy.
