Since the beginning in 1919, the Legion has been instrumental in drafting and lobbying the effort for Veterans and their families. Some of the accomplishments of the American Legion are ushering in the modern VA, the GI Bill , the Post 9/11 GI Bill and today they continue the fight on Capitol Hill for benefits for veterans of all eras.
