I have worked mine around the Christmas sales and have a year of All Access for a bit over the cost of the US plan. It is legal and allowed by Ancestry and why not? you are still a member and using their site and probably paying the extra $10/month for pro-tools if you have your DNA through Ancestry. Pro-tools is great and can be used on a month to month basis if you wish.

I think it is easy to not know or not think about epidemics in our family history. Polio is perhaps the most recent (Covid sure) for our parents and grandparents. We may forget to go further back and look at the influenza times (~1918 through about 1923/24) and then to cholera, diptheria, typhoid etc. When there are unusual gaps, early deaths etc it is worth a look in newspapers, cemeteries and other archives to see what you can find.
