Today marks the 82nd anniversary of Twentieth Air Force!

On April 4, 1944, Gen. Henry H. “Hap” Arnold, Commanding General of the US Army Air Forces, formed the last numbered air force of the war, Twentieth Air Force. This organization was responsible for the major bomber commands operating out of India and, eventually, the Mariana Islands. Units that fell under the Twentieth flew the new B-29 Superfortress, one of the most expensive weapons programs that the United States pursued during World War II.

Today, 20 AF is responsible for operating, maintaining, securing and supporting the Air Force's ICBM force, providing on-alert, combat ready ICBMs to the President 24/7/365.

Good reminders for everyone!

Cowboy Guard (Note: Please share with families)

As military operations continue in and around Iran, many military families are understandably searching for information. The uncertainty is real. The waiting is hard. Wanting to share updates and stay connected is completely human.

During times like this, it is especially important to keep Operations Security (OPSEC) in mind.

OPSEC is the practice of protecting information that could be collected and pieced together to reveal sensitive details. Even posts that seem harmless can create risk when small bits of information are combined.

Please avoid sharing the following publicly:

• Troop movements or current locations
• Names, ranks, units, or identifying details
• Deployment dates, flight times, departure points, or return timelines
• Photos that show base landmarks, badges, schedules, or background details

Practicing OPSEC isn’t about limiting connection or support. It’s about using good judgment in what we share publicly. A simple pause before posting helps protect our Soldiers, Airmen, and the missions they carry out.

If you see someone accidentally sharing sensitive information, please approach them kindly and privately. Many families are navigating uncertainty right now, and we all share responsibility in protecting one another.

Our vigilance matters.
