Meet WHTC Member | Sweetwater County Joint Travel and Tourism Board

"Sweetwater County represents the wide-open spirit of southwest Wyoming. Home to Rock Springs, Green River, Flaming Gorge Country and the historic Red Desert, Sweetwater County is where adventure, heritage and authentic Western hospitality meet.

As Wyoming’s largest county, Sweetwater offers room to roam with an incredible amount of public land to explore. From the crystal-blue waters and towering cliffs of Flaming Gorge Reservoir to the otherworldly landscapes of the Killpecker Sand Dunes, Boar’s Tusk and the Pilot Butte Wild Horse Scenic Loop, it is a haven for outdoor recreation enthusiasts. Visitors can fish, boat, hike, hunt, off-road, wildlife watch and experience some of the state’s most dramatic scenery.

Rich in railroad, mining, immigrant, outlaw, and pioneer history, Sweetwater County tells the story of the West through unforgettable places, welcoming communities, signature events, scenic byways, public art and endless outdoor adventure."

Thank you for being an important part of the WHTC community!

Wyoming is now entering its peak tourism season, making it an ideal moment to remind colleagues, representatives and community members about the significance of our visitors.

Not sure where to start? Here are some quick talking points from the 2025 Travel Impact Report:

✈️ Last year, travel spending brought in $291.8 million in local and state tax revenue—that’s approximately $1,200 per Wyoming household.

💼 Over 33,900 individuals make a living through travel and tourism jobs.

✏️ Seventy-five percent of visitor spending was generated from international and out-of-state visitors, whose contributions benefit Wyoming communities.
