Cheyenne Frontier Days Mounted Marshals

Cheyenne Frontier Days Mounted Marshals We are a group that works crowd control as well as watching foot traffic throughout the parade route. The golden rule is, "you must play well with others"

We work closely with the foot marshals, and the city of Cheyenne, to keep safety a priority. Mounted Marshals is the mounted safety unit for the Cheyenne Frontier Days Parades Committee. We are counting on this page to help strengthen and organize our unit for future endeavors. To also include, but not limited to: organize our get- togethers, trainings/drills, maybe buy, sell, loan a horse or two, info on tack, farriers, teeth floaters all horse related issues, reunions- you name it.

Good morning Mounted Marshals! Wow, the weather outside is frightful. I can not say I'm "sorry" we won't be enduring this cold to hang wreaths tonight. I am sorry I won't be presenting our Mounted Marshal of the Year Buckle.

Tonight I would have been honoring a fabulous little lady, who is a veteran Mounted Marshal. After the first of the year, she'll have put in 20 years as a Cheyenne Frontier Days volunteer riding for Mounted the entire time. This includes many years of helping run back track Mounted security for CFD concerts. She also finds the time to help with work details and wagon moves for the Parades Committee. She will be turning 80 years young in February, about the same time she hits her 20 years with CFD.

According to her daughter, this lady has always been "horse crazy!" She started out riding with the Blue Sky Riders in Colorado. She also volunteered at the National Western Stock Show in 90's. Then, she landed with the Mounted Marshals and has been with the group ever since. I also know that she spent many years hauling her daughter to horse events and now her daughter returns the favor and makes sure she can continue to ride at events, parades, and classes.

I don't know that this lady knows what an inspiration she is to the folks that ride with her. I smile when I see her show up to ride for Mounted or classes at the college. It just shows that there is no time limit for being on the back of a horse. You just got to keep riding!

I am proud to say and congratulate our Cheyenne Frontier Days Mounted Marshals of the Year Dyna Hackett!

Thanks so much for your dedicated service to the Mounted Marshals and being an inspiration to myself and others. You have become a friend to me and I am so fortunate to be able to honor you!!!!🀠🐎❀️

I will be handing over Dyna's buckle to her at the Parades Christmas party. I think she's going to love it, it's beautiful, and Michelle said, "Dyna has lots of other buckles, but this will be her first with her name on it!" I'm happy we will provide that for her!

Thanks so much for all you do Dyna, it hasn't gone unnoticed!

Attention Mounted Marshals Canceled Wreath Hanging!! Please share!!

With the recent EHV-1 out break and cases here in Cheyenne now, I've made the very hard decision to cancel our wreath hanging. Our horses are the ones who carry us in so many situations and their safety is as important to me as yours. This virus is too easily spread for me not to make a good decision for us all.

It makes me sad to have to do it, but after consulting with local Veterinarians, and my Coordinators keeping them home and safe is the best decision. I'll miss seeing all your faces! Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

CANCELED!!!!

Good morning Mounted Marshals, πŸŽ„πŸŽπŸ€ β€οΈ

I finally have all the details for the Christmas wreath hanging downtown. We will be hanging the wreaths all the way down Capitol like last year. Visit Cheyenne will have larger carabiners attached to the wreaths this year, this should make it easier for the wreath hangers.

We will be hanging wreaths prior to the Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 29th. We will start meeting around 2:00 pm in the lot at the west end of the depot (15th street), like years past. You will need to be saddled and ready to ride no later than 3:30 pm. We will then head down as a group to the Stables on Pioneer and 15th for a quick pre-event meeting with Visit Cheyenne and to gather the wreaths. Please wear jeans, boots, and cowboy hats if possible, and wear your black Mounted Marshal jackets (vests) or a black coats. I realize we will need to dress for the weather so you may also wear stocking caps instead of cowboy hats.

The city is closing the roads at 4:00 pm, but we will ride down Capitol together in pairs, after getting our wreaths and drop off the pairs of riders at each intersection as we go. The eight wreath hangers need to be lined up in front of the Capitol building by 4:10 (with one wreath) and we will start hanging at 4:15pm.

I will assign eight riders to hang the wreaths again (I will most likely use most of the same folks to hang wreaths as last year since they already know the process) and the rest of our Mounted will be stationed in pairs at each intersection with wreaths to hand to the wreath hangers as they come down. Remember each person stationed in the intersection will need to handle 4 wreaths each and be able to hand them off to the wreath hangers, keep this in mind. Each wreath hanger will need to grab one wreath to get them started. If we have a big enough turnout we can station more riders at the intersections and handle less wreaths at a time but I don't know if we'll have the numbers we need. After you hand off all your wreaths to the wreath hangers, reform pairs and follow behind the wreath hangers gathering the pairs at each intersection. I would like us to look uniform as we are returning.

Please sign up as soon as you can so I am able to figure out the details of the day, which can get complicated to sort out. If everyone could please sign up using the Vicnet app or directly get a hold of me that would be great!

Don't forget anyone helping is invited to the after Christmas parade dinner at the Buckle Club. We will be having chilli and baked potatoes. The dinner will start after the CFD Christmas floats return to the park, so it probably won't be until 6:30-7:00 ish.

I think the wreath hanging is a wonderful tradition and I am so happy that The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce and Visit Cheyenne continue to include the Mounted Marshals in their kick off of the holiday season!

Hope to see many of you there,
Thanks so much,

Good morning Mounted Marshals! Looks like the temperatures are starting to get cooler. It's time to start thinking about the annual Christmas wreath hanging downtown. We have been asked again by Visit Cheyenne and The Cheyenne Greater Chamber of Commerce to participate again in hanging wreaths down Capitol prior to the Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 29th. I will get out more details as we get closer. We are working through the kinks on an easier way to hang and attach the wreaths. Just wanted to check in with everyone and give a heads up to any who would like to participate. Hope to see many of you there!πŸŽ„πŸ€ πŸŽβ€οΈ

On a side note we have been asked to assist as Mounted Marshals in a Parade on the Fourth of July. Next year is America's 250th birthday. There will be lots of extra celebrations prior to and during CFD!πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²πŸŽ†πŸŽ‰

Good evening Mounted Marshals! Hope all is well with everyone as the summer winds down. The Dandies, Cheyenne Frontier Days Goodwill Ambassadors are getting ready to have a clinic and tryouts. This year the program has lost many girls because they have aged out. I know many of you, just like myself are attached to the horse world in many different ways. If you know of any young horse woman (14-19) that would be interested, please encourage them to give Dandies a try. Halley Redman has built a great program and it's not only fun but a prestigious group to ride for! Please share if you will. These gals are an important part of the Parades Committee just like our Mounted Marshals!!
Thanks,

Last parade day for the Mounted Marshals for the 129th Cheyenne Frontier Days! This year has been a wonderful year. I want to take a moment to say how very thankful I am for the amazing riders and their horses that ride for Mounted. As their Assistant, I only look as good as they are and they make me look fabulous! I also want to thank the ground crew who handles our parking lot, radios, the horse ambulance drivers, beverages, and keeps us all fed. You make it easier for us to do our jobs out there on the parade route keeping things safe. I am definitely a lucky and blessed lady to have Mounted behind me. Thanks for all your support and respect. I know I will see you all down the trail!🀠❀️🐎
