Instead of enacting policies that stoke fear and divide our communities, our law enforcement leaders should be protecting everyone, including our immigrant neighbors and loved ones. That is the Wyoming we love.

What’s especially concerning about how 287(g) agreements have spread across Wyoming over the past year is how quietly the deals are being made. It appears that Hot Springs County residents didn’t get a chance to weigh in on these 287(g) agreements.

When it comes to decisions like this that affect our communities so drastically, Wyomingites deserve a transparent, democratic process — not unilaterally-signed agreements that fundamentally change how our local law enforcement works.

Mid-May signings follow a trend of rapid teaming up with little public notice, says ACLU.

Anyone can serve as a legal observer. Legal observers support protesters' exercise of their free speech rights by recording interactions between police and protesters. The role is about accountability, not intervention.
