In March 2018 earlier this year, Crew 101 tried out cross country skiing at Tie City located off of Happy Jack road. The area is surprisingly protected from the wind and the snow stays around for a long time. Park staff also regularly grooms the trails for cross country skiing. The area supports snow shoeing also.

Last August in 2017 Venture Crew 101 did an overnight backpack trip to camp at the boulder field and then summit Longs Peak which has an elevation 14,255ft. From the trail head, it was an 18 mile round trip backpacking with about 5000 feet in elevation gain. Great accomplishment. The crew is planning on another backpack trip this summer for 2018 in RMNP.

I am cancelling the July 15th
Day Hike for - (Medicine Bow Peak or Grey Rock). Other leaders are already committed to other activates that day so we will just focus on the remaining hikes and campouts that are scheduled for Greys and Torrey and Longs Peak/Boulder Field. Thanks Mr. Brand

Solar Eclipse Weekend at Camp Laramie Peak
All Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Scouters are invited to attend our weekend of activities August 19-21 at Camp Laramie Peak, northwest of Wheatland, Wyoming, and stay to view the Solar Eclipse on Monday, August 21. The eclipse is expected to happen at approximately 11:45 A.M. and Camp Laramie Peak is in one of the prime viewing windows for the eclipse. This is expected to be a once in a lifetime experience because of the type of eclipse this is and our viewing area being very close to the centerline. The eclipse will begin to darken the area around 10:30 A.M. and will last until approximately 1 P.M. The actual blackout time will be approximately 2 1/2 minutes.
