Lexi Arguello was eighteen years old when she died following an abortion at a Planned Parenthood facility in Fort Collins.

Fort Collins is not far away, and this abortion facility is used by Cheyenne and southeast Wyoming women.

That is why Lexi’s story is not just a Colorado story.

A hard truth about abortion drugs:

When safeguards are removed in the name of “access,” women can be left more vulnerable to coercion, abuse, and exploitation.

In her latest commentary, Wyoming Family Alliance Pro-Life Liaison Krista Riester asks an important question: If we all agree it is wrong to secretly drug a woman in any other context, why are so many unwilling to confront the ways chemical abortion drugs can be used to harm women without their knowledge or consent?

This is not a hypothetical concern. Reports continue to surface of women being unknowingly given abortion drugs by men seeking to end a pregnancy without the mother’s knowledge.

Women deserve protection from abuse. They deserve medical safeguards. They deserve a system that takes coercion seriously.

Three years ago, Wyoming Family Alliance created Wyoming’s Fallen Heroes Virtual Memorial to help ensure that the names of Wyoming citizens who made the ultimate sacrifice would not be forgotten.

To our knowledge, it remains the only online resource dedicated to compiling the names of all fallen heroes from Wyoming, beginning with the Spanish-American War.

Though separate from our virtual memorial, we are also encouraged to see renewed attention being given to honoring Wyoming’s fallen through efforts to build a physical memorial in Cheyenne, recognizing every Wyoming service member killed or missing in action in U.S. military history.

As Wyoming looks forward to that future memorial, we are grateful to offer this virtual resource as one more way families can read their names, remember their sacrifice, and help keep their stories alive.

As America approaches the 250th anniversary of her founding, this Memorial Day calls us to remember the cost of liberty.

In his Memorial Day reflection, Wyoming Family Alliance President & CEO Nathan Winters reminds us that the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country were not abstractions. They were sons and daughters, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, neighbors and friends.

“They did not die in vain. Let us make sure we do not live in vain.”
