IF you're a teen in a relationship, these are some good reminders of what a healthy relationship is. If you're not a teen, these are still good reminders.

What are some ways to identify and deal with unhealthy relationships? And what strategies can people use to enhance relationships? What are some internal and external support resources that are available for people dealing with unhealthy relationships?

IF you can help, please let us know. We can take donations on youth nites (Wednesday from 3:7 and Friday's from 5:00 to 9:00) or you can drop donations off at Abundant Life Fellowship during working hours. A place to stay is very important at this time as Chataqua is coming up and all the hotels/motels and B&B's are already full. THANK YOU!!!

Family of 5 in deperate need of a home. We lost our home in a fire on May 25th. The only thing is we need a place in town due to the fact we don't drive. It is hard to ask for more from a community that has already done so much, but any help is appreciated

The C*C Foundation Sun, Feb 24, 2013 at 6:18 PM
Hey all~
We mentioned in some of our first emails that occasionally we'd send extra emails to the group. This is one of those extra emails.
Buried in the Feb. Blueprint was a plug for our crowdtilt fund raiser campaign. We are attempting to raise funds [ $175 ] to buy 3 new MURS capable [MURS are an FM CB service that is free to use without a license] radios.

The radio's keep the various area of our activities [such as the gym, the main floor, side rooms, outside] in communication with each other. [Believe it or not, not everybody has a cell phone lol] This helps when an injury occurs [then we can call the leader(s) trained in 1st aid to help] or if a problem occurs.

Currently we have 2 working radios. [We had 3 but one was stolen. Hope the thief had a charger] yet at the minimum 3 areas needing to be kept in contact.

We have 10 days left to rally fund commitments via crowdtilt. IF at the end of the "campaign" we have our tilt amount [ for this campaign, $174 ] then the donors pay and the money is ours [with crowdtilt getting 2%] IF we miss the tilt amount, no donor pays and our campaign is taken down [we can run multiple campaigns at the same time and there are no restrictions on rerunning a campaign that failed] As of this email, we only have $5 offer.

Will you please consider helping us? Either by going to the site [link below] and offering funds. Or maybe posting to Twitter, Google Plus or Facebook? Maybe emailing friends and colleagues? [did I spell that correctly? I hope so]

Thanks!

On another note, Thursday will be the deadline for any Blueprint submissions.
Until next time
~Jason

I help oversee a youth organization, The Chewelah Youth & Community Foundation. On average we have 10% of the enrolled students of our area school district join our activities. We run game nites for free! Our activities are growing fast, we have...

Series 1, Edition 2 – February 2013 In the Midst of it All
[a few words from the president of the C*CF]
Well here we are, our first regular newsletter. What a long way we have come! Let me introduce myself, just in the off chance you don't know me. My name is Jason, and I am a co-founder [and current president] of The Chewelah Youth & Community Foundation. We started our program 5 years ago and wow have we ever grown! Some may not know that we are actually a few programs/groups all rolled in to one. We oversee Game Nite [2x a week], Chewelah Tree of Sharing, Community Service
Coordination and more! Each group that works with us, retains its own identity and leadership [in fact, for Game Nite, the guys are in charge of guys, and girls in charge of girls. Guy Leaders vote for Guy Leaders, Girl Leaders vote for Girl Leaders. BUT we all
work together!] Our name represents our goals and more. We aim to meet the needs of the youth in our community first. To help keep a youthful feel, we purposely misspell the word 'night' as 'nite'. We hope to work not only for the youth but also for the community at
large. We hope to lay a foundation for a better tomorrow here in Chewelah! This newsletter, names 'The Blueprint' represents the idea that to build on a foundation, you need a plan, a Blueprint! This newsletter will keep those interested in the know of
what we do etc. We've seen amazing growth this past year. Usually, after we close for a holiday [as we do for Christmas/New Year] we see a drop in attendance to our Game Nite, usually a

Our numbers are still strong and we are having new faces show up almost every week! We've come far in our 5 years of existence!
Some cool new things to tell you about, starting Wednesday Feb. 13 [the day before Valentines Day] we will begin serving dinner's on Wednesday's [just like we do onFriday's]. These dinners will be FREE of charge! [but donations are always welcomed!]
Dinners on Wed.'s also mean we need to expand the hours of Wednesday slightly, to accommodate dinner. Starting that night, Wed.'s will be open from 3pm until 7pm. [Friday's are now open from 3pm until 9pm] More dinners will mean more more donations are needed. We will need more funds, more non-perishable food items, juices/pops and snacks. [We DO still receive money
from the Chewelah Kiwanis group! They are so AWESOME! But we feel it would be unfair to rely solely on their generosity. We appreciate all they do, and recognize that they can not, nor should they be expected to, do it all.] With the weather slowly but surely starting to warm up [is anyone else ready for spring and summer?!] we will begin doing our outdoor sports once again! That will require some more equipment, such as baseball mitts and baseball batting helmets [our mitts are very very old]. For a complete list of needs, please see the 'A Helping Hand' section below. We love your support, your trust in what we do, your help in what we do. We are all in this together. We honestly believe that one action, by one person, CAN [and does] make a difference! Each month I will give an update, from my point of view. Hope you
enjoy this first regular newsletter!
The Numbers Game
[last month's numbers]
As we promised in the 'Annual Report for 2012', we are now making a solid effort to document each nights totals. If it's a very busy night, we will give our best estimate.
[Which would go like this, we loose track at 73 just before dinner. We assume, on average, an extra 5 show up at dinner, plus we assume we may have missed up to 5 more in the count. So that would be 83 but we would round down to 80 [to compensate for a margin of error]
Each month, we will post here, in this section, the Wednesday night total and average, the Friday night total and average and the grand total for the month.

Feedback
[comments from youth & adults]
Each month, we will try to provide some feedback from our youth, our workers, parents and other supporters! The comments, while real, will be provided anonymously. [We will say though if they were youth, parents, workers etc]
Youth Comments:
– I like Game Nite because there's a whole lot of fun games!
– It's a fun place to hangout & you meet, & get to know a lot of new cool people!
– It's fun & a cool place to do your homework.
– It's cool that we have an inside gym to play basketball during the winter. Dodge
ball is fun too!
– I love Game Nite because my best friends are here!
Adult Comments:
– It's a good opportunity for children of all ages to get together, and have fun !
Worker Comments:
– It's nice, I love that there is a teen hangout!
Because We Can
[some goals & accomplishments]
We have a brand new way to contact us, we are proud to announce we have set up a Google Voice account! GVoice gives us 1 phone number. When you call it, it will automatically forward to various leaders [depending on the schedule we make] who
will then take the call. This protects the leaders private cell phone numbers, it also allows people on line, in other areas, to call with questions! [We will soon add the Call Us widget on the
website] It's a new prefix for Colville. So it's a local call! [We tried for Chewelah, but GVoice currently has no plans to make Chewelah phone numbers. So we took the next closest local number]. Our new phone number is: (509) 563-2231

[It may take a little time though as we're quite busy]

Feeding the Masses
[current month's menu]
Something new for this year, to help us better budget our funds, we are making up a menu each month. We will have it posted at Game Nite as well as include it here. Also, the last Friday we are open, in any given month, is our monthly Birthday Party night
where we celebrate the birthday[s] of anyone having a birthday that month! [We serve birthday cake for dessert that night.]
Each meal is also supplemented by snacks [fruit, popcorn, chips, pretzels etc] and, of course, juice and/or pop [we prefer juice]. Also, it should be noted, each meal has a veterinarian option available, for example, when we have Spaghetti or Nachos, the
meat is added separately. For Pizza, we have a cheese pizza option etc. We also don't season the food, instead letting those eating season it on their own. That helps us prevent food/seasoning allergies!
Thanks to the kitchen staff for all their HARD work!
Friday, Feb. 8th : Spaghetti & Garlic Bread
Wednesday, Feb 13th: Hamburgers & French fries
Friday, Feb. 15th: Cream of Potato Soup [home made w/bacon] & Garlic toast
Wednesday Feb. 20th: Pizza

Wednesday, Feb 27th: Nachos
One last note, on food served. According to our Treasurer, we spent roughly $140 in January
to feed the youth. With dinner being added to Wednesday's in mid-February, that amount
will, undoubtedly increase.
A Pictures Worth …
[some highlights from this past month]
We all know how much a picture can say. It brings you somewhere where you weren't. So we will try to provide a few pictures from our activities each month. [Bear with us, when we get real busy, we can space taking some pic.'s.] We have permission to post
these pictures, but we ask that you DO NOT download the picture itself. The only permissibly sharing of the pictures are in this newsletter [so you can share the newsletter, as a complete document but you can not copy a picture and share just the
picture.] This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 United

[miscellaneous topics]
So a few cool new things to report. First off, this section, as it says, will be for misc. topics. Updates, new programs, web site info etc.
Many probably don't know we have a great on line presence already [unless you read the signature/footer of our email's closely that is]. Our website, as indicated above, is: www.TheC*CFoundation.org We are making a concerted effort to keep it up to date! You can check it out for updates, info, a current needs/wish list, announcments etc. Next, we also have a Twitter account [one we are trying to tweet more with]. If you are
on Twitter, you can follow us. Search *CFoundation
We also have a Google Plus account. Our G+ Page is set up to be used sort of as a blog for updates etc. Check it out here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/103473440763137928668
Our page, will serve the same purpose as the G+ page does, it will just be on Facebook. Check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/ChewelahYouthCommunity
That's a Wrap
[final thoughts]
Well we hope you have enjoyed reading this 1st 'regular' edition of 'The Blueprint'. [Technically, since we made the Jan 2013 edition the annual reports, this is the 2nd edition, but the 1st regular one.] Fair warning, every month will be different. A different number of pages, different content etc. Over the first few months, we will probably also tweak the look and feel slightly. Stuff like the
font's, color scheme, maybe add a background … who knows. We value feedback, so you have an idea? Drop us an email!
February is poised to be a big month. In June of 2012 we added Wednesday nights. Now, 8 months after adding Wednesday night Game Nites, we are adding dinner on Wednesday's!
We've also started an on line fund raising push. Specifically for some more MURS Radios [we have a specific model in mind. They'll work perfectly. We need between 3 and 5 more.
You can announce your intent to donate x-amount of funds. Then if, in the alloted time [30 days] we receive enough funds announced, if we tilt the offer inour favor, we get the funds. Otherwise, no money is donated and we can start again. Hopefully, the wait is almost over for getting State Registered [in Washington
State of course!] as a full fledged non-profit organization! [Not a 501 (c)3 … at least not yet] Then we can [finally] get our bank account set up. That will be exciting!
Remember, as the signature in our email's spell out, unless clearly stated otherwise, all our publications are allowed to be re-shared, modified, cited etc. We only ask that you don't sell our publications [unless you get specific permission directly from one of our officers] and that you give us credit. Also, we ask you make sure those you share our material with, know they can share it
as well! [So feel free to forward this to whomever you wish, print it and hand it out etc]
As also stated, to make this newsletter, and ALL our publications, we use Libre Office [available on Windows/Linux/Mac for free] on Ubuntu Linux. [It's Open Source, which means any programmer may reprogram it legally! It's also FREE!] This means that the file is virus free! Why? Because a Linux virus and Windows virus can not cross infect to the other systems. Plus, we scan EVERYTHING
multiple times! Don't forget, you can come join our 'barely controlled chaos' [our nickname for what Game Nite is] every :
Wednesday from 3pm – 7pm and Friday from 3pm – 9pm
Maybe see you there, and until next time, remember; one action, done by one person CAN make a difference!

Chewelah is a great place to live. A great example of why small town living is a desireable idea! Even though it's a great place, there's always room for improvement. That is one of the reasons we organized this foundation.
