Last week best week😎

Week 9 at Camp Woodend was out of this world🚀 Our campers enjoyed games, crafts, science experiments, and explorations that challenged them to be creative, work together, and learn more about the outdoors. They searched for fossils, caught frogs in the pond, identified plants, and more. Our traveling camp, Animal Keepers, visited Owl Moon Raptor Center, a Dairy Farm, and the National Zoo.

Week 8 at Camp Woodend was awesome🐢

We ran eight camps this session! Our K-4 campers found insects, turtles, crawfish, animals tracks, and more around Woodend and in Rock Creek. They conducted science experiments, made delicious ice cream, and had so much fun at our talent show. Ethnobotany (5-6th grade campers) spent the week learning about all the uses of plants and creating them into something new (baskets, wands, and more!), and Aquatic Adventures (7-9th grade campers) explored the DC area, kayaking, tubing, learning about oysters, and visiting the Baltimore Aquarium.

Week 7 at Camp Woodend🦎

Our educators taught 8 camps and had a blast! Our K-4 camps spent lots of time finding critters (notably lots of turtles), exploring Woodend’s habitats, finding macro invertebrates in Rock Creek, becoming fossil experts, searching for birds in the trees, and conducting science experiments. Our 5-6 camps went on field trips to a local farm and went to an archery range🧑🏼‍🌾🏹

Week 6 camp photos just dropped🐢

This was our most packed camp schedule of the summer, with nine different camps! Our K-4 classes explored Woodend and Rock Creek, finding frogs, exploring our forests, and being crafty. Our travel camps headed to Echo Hill Outdoor School, engaging in aquatic exploration on the Chesapeake Bay!

Week 5 at Camp Woodend🐢🐍

We ran eight camps during Week 5! Reptile Mania, Extreme Animals, and Animal Babies all learned about creatures and critters (they got to meet some snakes and turtles!). Young Astronomers and Science Wizards discovered faraway universes and experimented with magical reactions in their very own lab. Plantapalooza explored our diverse sanctuary and learned how plants sustain life around us. Woodend Rangers and Maryland Rocks led expeditions around Catoctin Mountain Park, Rock Creek, Carderock, and more!

We had an amazing week full of adventure, creativity, whimsy, and discovery 💚 As always, a big thank you to our staff, campers, and camp families for another awesome week at Camp Woodend.

Week 3 at Camp Woodend was EPIC🐬

Our campers had a packed week, with two traveling camps, a cooking camp, and five exploration camps at Woodend! Mountain Outpost headed to the wilderness, Sizzle and Spice created delicious meals, Deep Sea Discovery searched for critters, and more 🐸

Recapping last week at Camp Woodend💚

It was another great week as campers headed into the forest, built their outdoor skills, explored, learned new things about nature, and had a ton of fun.😎

Let's recap Camp Woodend's first week of the summer🏕️

We hosted seven camps for kindergarteners up to 9th graders! Campers spent lots of time outside building campfires, rolling logs, exploring the pond, hiking, finding critters, and making friends new and old.

A big thank you to our Camp Woodend campers, families, and staff for a wonderful, nature-filled week. We can’t wait to do this for the rest of the summer😎
