Cheverly American Legion Auxiliary Unit 108 Cheverly ALA Unit 108 is a Veteran Support Organization located in Cheverly, Maryland. We work hard to support our military and veterans!

Founded in the 1940s, the Cheverly Auxiliary has a rich history. Its members’ volunteer efforts have touched the lives of veterans in numerous ways: welcoming home weary warriors, visiting patients at VA hospitals, hosting walks and holiday dinners for less fortunate or lonely veterans, and comforting the families of those who have gone before us. In 2012, we reversed a decade-long decline in mem

bership and reinvigorated our commitment to our legacy and work. There are new generations of veterans to reach out to, and with the passage of time the needs of our older veterans and their families increase. Since our renewal, we have improved the landscaping and security of our home Post, made contributions to the USO food bank, sponsored young women to attend Maryland Girls State, raised awareness in our community about veterans issues, and sponsored Americanism essay contests for local youth- among many, many other activities. The Cheverly Auxiliary believes that caring for all veterans is a sacred trust, and its members strive to do so with the same courage our veterans exhibited in their service to our country.

Cheverly American Legion Post 108 will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at Cheverly Legion Park on Memorial Day, Monday 5/25 at 10am. All are invited to attend the ceremony.
Poppies will be distributed.
There will be a display in Legion Park "In Honor of their Sacrifice" Memorial markers will be placed in tribute to local service members and those who are remembered, killed in action.
As we have done the past couple of years, the Cheverly American Legion, Post 108, will place stakes with a memoriam placard at Legion Park for Memorial Day. We will also have a service at Legion Park on Memorial Day 5/25
For our memoriam placards, we honor our local fallen heroes, and fallen family and friends of our community.

The red poppy speaks where words fall short — a silent tribute to the sacrifices made for our freedom by the heroes who served and died for our country in all wars. ❤️‍🩹 The poppy is a reminder that their courage will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

After World War I, the American Legion Family brought National Poppy Day® to the United States by asking Congress to designate the Friday before Memorial Day as National Poppy Day.

The Auxiliary promotes the poppy as a symbol of the sacrifices our military have made, a symbol to open people’s hearts and inspire them to donate to help support the future of veterans, servicemembers, and their families. 🇺🇸

Today, on National Poppy Day, wear a red poppy to honor the fallen and support the living. ❤️
