Holy Work with Children: Simple Practices for Worship and Prayer

What can congregations do to nurture children's faith more intentionally through worship and prayer? This practical and interactive session will offer simple, adaptable ideas that can be implemented in congregations of any size. Participants will leave with concrete practices, fresh inspiration, and next steps for helping children engage more fully in the worshiping life of the church. This event and speaker are generously funded by the Engaging Children Initiative; $15 for lunch.

Rev. Dr. Tanya Campen is an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church and serves as educator, researcher, and ministry leader whose work focuses on children's spirituality, faith formation, and congregational life. She serves as Director of Leadership Development and Faith Formation with the Rio Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church, where she equips and supports ministry leaders through research, training, coaching, and resource development. Tanya is the author of Holy Work with Children: Making Meaning Together and is passionate about helping congregations create spaces where children, families, and communities can encounter God, grow in faith, and flourish together.

What happens when poetry, faith, and everyday life meet?

Join us for the very first Luther Park Lunch & Learn on Monday, October 26!

Pastor and poet Mike Vetsch, author of Wilderness Cries, will lead “Poetry and Life,” a conversation about his experiences as a poet, what poetry and art can mean for the church and for humanity, and how writing can help us see and express the world differently.

And you won’t just listen. Mike will lead us through a few exercises designed to help all of us become better writers. No poetry experience required. Just bring your curiosity!

Coffee Hour: 9:30 AM
Presentation & Discussion: 10 AM to Noon
Lunch: Noon to 1 PM
$15/person, including lunch

We are so excited to invite you to our Confirmation Kick-Off at Luther Park on September 12. From 9 am to 4 pm, confirmation students and mentors can launch the year together with our Lutheran 101 theme.

Expect a meaningful day of worship, learning from synod ELCA Pastors, playing games, and sharing a great meal. It is the perfect way to dive into the curriculum while enjoying the outdoors.
