Brookline Education Foundation Supporting excellence in teaching and love of learning in Brookline's schools.

Our Mission

The Brookline Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Brookline’s commitment to excellence in public education. The BEF raises private funds to support innovative teaching, administrative leadership, professional development, and community participation in the schools. History

From its start in 1981 as one of the first private local education funds in

the country, the BEF has raised over $4 million for the Brookline Public Schools. Supporters and donors include parents, citizens, and businesses who share the belief that strong public schools are essential to the quality of life and future well-being of the town. Today, the BEF is one of the largest and most innovative local education funds in Massachusetts. The BEF Today

The BEF works closely with the Brookline School Department in a unique partnership, identifying needs and opportunities where its efforts can make a difference to teachers and children. BEF monies are used to fund new approaches to professional development and systemwide improvements that the schools could not otherwise afford. The BEF seeks out and supports innovation and leadership among teachers and administrators alike. It looks for leverage opportunities where its programs can generate funds from other public and private sectors.

🎓 Congratulations to the Brookline High School Class of 2026!

With graduation rapidly approaching, the BEF wants to celebrate the class' hard work, perseverance, achievements and all the exciting opportunities ahead. We are proud of everything you have accomplished and can't wait to see what comes next.

As you celebrate this milestone, consider honoring a teacher, counselor, coach, or staff member who helped shape your student's journey. Through BEF's Honor A Teacher program, you can recognize an educator who made a difference while supporting grants that enrich learning opportunities for future students.

T- 7 days until everyone's favorite Monday! We are so proud of everyone who has been training for the Boston Marathon, especially our runners!

It's not too late to support these amazing runners - visit our website to learn more!

Runkle Spanish teacher and new marathon runner Colleen Boyle sums it up best:

"This has been such an amazing experience in so many ways and I can’t wait to crush 26.2 miles! The paper chain countdown in my classroom that my homeroom made is getting super small😬 I never ever thought I’d run a marathon in my life, but feel so prepared and supported, and it’s truly incredible what we can do with a little motivation and help! Thank you all again for your continued support, this is truly what makes Brookline, and Runkle, such a special and amazing community."

Let's go Colleen, Ally, Ryan, Erin and Tim! You got this!

Congrats to Pierce School 8th grade science teacher Tracy Bare on the publishing of her Metzger Fellow essay, “Never Too Late for Basketball” in Kappan, a leading publication for educators.

Take a few minutes to read Tracy’s story- https://kappanonline.org/never-too-late-basketball/

Tracy’s essay is a great example of the thoughtful, reflective work that comes out of the Metzger Fellowship program and we love seeing Brookline educators share their voices with a broader professional community. Pierce School Pierce School PTO
