The Shelter Alliance Welcomes Sarah Feyerherm to its Board of Directors
The Shelter Alliance is pleased to have Sarah Feyerherm join its Board of Directors as of August 13. As Vice President of Student Affairs at Washington College her major responsibilities include oversight of the out-of-class experience for students, including residential life, health and counseling, career development, varsity athletics, public safety, and other co-curricular experiences that support student success and well-being. In her position, she also ensures compliance with federal statutes including Title IX, Clery Act, the Violence Against Women Act, and a variety of state legislation.
In addition to her responsibilities as Vice President Sarah is an associate professor of practice in the College’s Education department and is the director of the Wellness and Personal Development curricular program. She is also a former board member of the Kent County United Way.
Genevieve Menard, President of The Shelter Alliance, notes that “each of Sarah Feyerherm’s areas of responsibility require a tremendous amount of expertise that will serve The Shelter Alliance in advancing its goals of addressing the immediate needs of the unhoused and the root causes of homelessness. We are confident that Sarah will put her expertise to work in areas including governance, finance, program development, operations, housing, and compliance.”
In addition to these areas of expertise Sarah enjoys problem solving which will be vital to The Shelter Alliance as our goal of expanding our current services and opening a year-round shelter with wrap-around services evolves. Her extensive involvement within the college and local community will also be invaluable.
