Victory Farm Community Garden had a great growing season in 2018. We grew and donated 800 pounds of produce, plus volunteer students at the farm installed new raised beds for next year! The vast majority of the produce went to St. Martins Ministries in Ridgely, MD. For anyone who has considered volunteering for the garden, everyone who works at the garden also enjoyed their fair share! Please consider joining us in 2018!

Come spring, you may regret all the gardening you didn’t do in November. Unless doing nothing is actually a better option.

How I Prepare My Raised Beds for Winter HOW’S YOUR YARD CLEAN-UP PROGRESSING? This morning I had a panic attack, after hearing that a deluge and a deep-freeze were headed to the Hudson Valley. The problem? I had not yet put my Herb Garden to bed. Consequently I leaped into action: As most of you kno...

We harvested carrots at the Community Garden this week! We left one in the garden to feed a swallowtail caterpillar.

Fellow Farmers -

As anyone who has recently visited the farm may have noticed, the water hydrant next to the garden is leaking. It needs to be dug up and fixed, which will cost an estimated $300 to $400. (The plumber can't tell what the problem is until it has been dug up.)

I would like to see if we can raise enough money to accomplish this, so I am asking for donations.

Donations can be made to Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue (or MABCR), and are tax deductible. (The garden doesn't maintain a separate checking account, and does have NPO status under the umbrella of MABCR).

For information on how to donate, please see: www.mabcr.org/donations.html

Thanks so much for considering helping with this effort!

This is a pile of dirt. Why is this dirt special? Because it is baby dirt. We built a new compost spot over the winter and this dirt has been made from the weeds pulled from the garden, as well as manure taken from the barn. It's pretty crazy how quickly it goes from trash to treasure!!
