Last week, we had the privilege of hosting our “Rural Roots, Big Goals: Financial Freedom Starts Here” workshop, and we want to thank everyone who attended and participated in such meaningful conversations.

Together, we discussed practical ways to overcome financial setbacks and understand the financial tools you can use to move forward with confidence. We also shared real-life experiences that challenged financial stigmas and encouraged participants to remember that where you start does not determine where you can go.

A special thank you to our presenter, Jay McCall, Realtor®, for bringing honesty, insight, and encouragement to the workshop. Your willingness to share knowledge and personal experiences made a lasting impact on everyone in the room.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support and empower our rural communities through financial education, and we look forward to continuing these conversations in the future!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Resume Basics: What You Need to Know!

A special thank you to our presenter, Lisa Moody, for sharing her expertise and practical insights. Attendees walked away with a stronger understanding of how to create resumes that truly stand out, focusing on clean, professional appearance, consistent formatting, and how thoughtful design can make content easier for both recruiters and applicant tracking systems to read.

Attendees also explored how to craft compelling professional summaries that clearly communicate their value, highlight key skills, and make a strong first impression right at the top of their resume.

Keep an eye out for our upcoming May Financial Literacy Workshop on May 21st! More details are coming soon! To explore our full list of upcoming classes, visit our website at https://kentattainablehousing.org/classes/.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Mt. Olive AME Church Community Day!

From conversations about homeownership and financial literacy to environmental stewardship and youth engagement, the day was rooted in building stronger foundations for families and creating pathways for opportunity in Butlertown and beyond.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mt. Olive AME Church for opening its doors and hosting us so generously. We are also deeply grateful to our partners — The Olive Garden Youth Outreach, ShoreRivers, and Chesapeake Heartland — for showing up, sharing your knowledge, and providing resources that will continue to benefit our community long after the event.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support our neighborhoods and partner with other organizations in Kent County!
