On September 11, 2001, the United States faced one of the darkest days in its history when terrorist attacks claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people and forever changed the nation. Four planes were hijacked, with two striking the Twin Towers in New York City, one hitting the Pentagon, and another crashing in Pennsylvania after passengers fought back. Now, on the 24th anniversary of 9/11, we pause to remember the victims, honor the bravery of first responders, and reflect on the resilience and unity that emerged in the aftermath. It is a day to not only mourn the loss but also to reaffirm the commitment to never forget.

Congratulations Chief Shaw!!! Thank you for your continuous dedication to lead and mentor the members of Chester Township Fire Dept.

On Wednesday July 24th, Chester Twp. Fire Rescue Chief William Shaw was presented with the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association’s Distinguished Service Award at the annual Ohio Fire & Rescue Officer Development Conference. President elect Joseph Kitchen (left) and President Colin Altman (right) presented the award. Each year, the award is presented to a member of the Association who has distinguished himself or herself through service above and beyond to the fire service. Chief Shaw was on the Board of Directors for 13 years and held every position on the Board including President in 2015. Chief Shaw was also the Assistant State Coordinator of the Ohio Emergency Response System until 2023. He continues to teach in the weekend Fire Officer 1 & 2 programs as well as serving as an assessor for promotional candidates which assists communities in choosing their department leaders. Congratulations Chief Shaw on your well deserved award.
