agriculture and farming, commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. Sustainability Alliance is a group of American farm, fishery and forestry producers that joined together to explore and share their values regarding sustainability and conservation. We are committed to responsible management of our resources for the future. We want the world to know “how we grow” – environm

entally, economically and socially – as good faith participants in the global sustainability effort; as an independent family and community of producers and trading partners; and, most importantly how we will continue to grow, harvest and produce to meet the world’s need for sustainably produced food and resources. The challenge for everyone is “how we grow” together to ensure our environmental legacy. For more, visit: https://thesustainabilityalliance.us/

U.S. fisheries are showing what responsible ocean management can achieve.

From Alaska's wild, sustainable salmon to the Gulf of Mexico's newly certified shrimp fishery, American fisheries are proving that thriving oceans and thriving communities aren't mutually exclusive.

Backed by strict science-based management and a commitment to marine ecosystems, U.S. fisheries show how sustainable seafood can support both ocean health and coastal livelihoods.

For nearly 150 years, American farmers, ranchers, and foresters have been stewards of the land. From the Soil Conservation Service established in 1935 to today's climate-smart farming practices, we've proven that productivity and environmental protection go hand in hand.

With 97% of U.S. farms family-owned, we're not just feeding the world, we're preserving it for generations to come. This is sustainability rooted in American values.

Hidden treasure in our waste streams.

A new Cornell University study reveals that nutrients from animal and human waste could supply 102% of the nitrogen and 50% of the phosphorus needed for U.S. agriculture worth over $5.7 billion annually. The challenge? Getting these nutrients from where they're produced to where they're needed.

With the right infrastructure and coordination, we can tap into this largely unused resource while reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers and cutting production emissions. It's not a resource problem - it's a coordination opportunity.

Leftover pizza ingredients don’t have to end up in landfill. This story shows how they can be repurposed to support healthier soils keeping nutrients in circulation and turning “waste” into something useful for farms.

Circular solutions like this prove there’s value to unlock at every step of the food chain.

Walmart has joined the .S. Cotton Trust Protocol, scaling momentum for more sustainable cotton sourcing and stronger supply-chain visibility.

Through the Trust Protocol, Walmart can access aggregated, independently verified sustainability data across six metrics (land use, soil health, water management, GHG emissions, energy use and fiber quality) and track cotton through the supply chain supporting its goal to help manage 50 million acres of land and one million square miles of ocean by 2030.

Michael Marchand spent 11 years running a document services business until the pull of farming (and a family legacy) brought him and his wife Leslie back to the land. What began as “food for our family” has grown into a regenerative-minded farm serving their community.

NRCS technical and financial assistance helped them scale smart: high tunnels to grow earlier and longer, and rotational grazing infrastructure to support healthier soils and better outcomes for crops and livestock.

Global demand for organic is rising and U.S. organic companies are at the forefront. According to the Organic Trade Association’s 2025 U.S. Organic Exports Report, U.S. organic exports are now estimated at $3.3 billion. with six out of ten (61%) of U.S.-based organic companies exporting their produce. Canada is the top country destination followed by Japan.

And the momentum is expected to continue with nearly two-thirds of exporting companies planning to enter new international markets within the next two to three years. There is a growing interest in the UK, mainland Europe and Southeast Asia.

AI is becoming a real-world tool for faster, smarter plant breeding.

One example: CropWizard, an AI-powered decision-support tool built on the University of Illinois’ Illinois Chat platform, which pulls from 200,000+ trusted ag publications to answer practical questions on things like pest management, crop rotation and nutrient needs.

Beyond chat, AI is accelerating soybean research through phenotyping and faster DNA/marker analysis and even shoebox-sized field rovers collecting sensor data under the canopy to reduce manual workload and improve accuracy.

Changes in climate and emerging diseases are making the domestic peanut harder and harder to grow, but researchers at the University of Georgia are using DNA to create a more resilient variety. The peanut varieties being developed are better suited for a changing climate helping farmers adapt while protecting productivity.
