Just in case you're not seeing or reading the google group emails... here it is again. Message me if you'd like to be added to the google group for weekly and misc important emails.
This week, as we approach Labor Day, I want to take some time to thank our Pool Volunteers. Without these folks, we would quite literally not have a pool to enjoy! They all work full-time jobs and still dedicate their time for 4+ months to make sure we have a safe, fun place to create wonderful summertime memories.
Millie Corsoro – President of the Loch Braemar Community Association, year-round! She’s the woman behind the scenes getting it all done. From coordinating unexpected sinkhole repairs to managing the details that kept our summer safe, fun, and engaging, Millie guided us through challenges while keeping the focus on connection and enjoyment.
Dana Barrow – VP of Treasury, year-round. Dana keeps us up to code and in balance. She’s also deeply involved with the swim team and is a constant source of knowledge for our lifeguards and gate guards. She may be quiet, but she is mighty!
Andy Johansen – One half of the pool co-chairs, each morning before work, Andy skims and vacuums the pool and checks chlorine levels. On off days, he’s mowing, weed-eating, or helping the grounds committee. After work, he’s often back checking chemicals, maybe taking a dip, and helping the guards close up.
Dave Barrow – Head of the Grounds Committee and our behind-the-scenes engineer. If it’s broken, Dave can fix it—or research a fix until it’s solved. From chlorine pumps to lawnmowers to coordinating the pool cover, Dave does it all!
Jim Anderson – Jim is a gem. You’ll often find him behind the grill on holidays, but when a backhoe or concrete repair is needed, he’s the man to call. From sunup to sundown, Jim was instrumental in fixing the sinkhole this year and tackling the concrete behind the diving board.
Tessa Bowers – Tessa is the taskmaster, managing lifeguards and scheduling both lifeguards and gate guards (think: herding cats!) all while running the Gregory Pond Swim Team.
Jeff Bowers – Jeff is a behind-the-scenes guy, often assisting the grounds committee. Whether it’s digging out dirt for parking lot repairs or climbing ladders to brighten our pool nights, Jeff’s the one who gets it done. He’s always willing to roll up his sleeves and handle the jobs most people don’t even see.
Mike Corsoro – One-third of the Social Committee and VP of the Association, Mike was the man behind the spatula this summer, serving up delicious pop-up food! He also cleaned grills after rentals and vacuumed the pool to get it weekend-ready. (If BBQ rental rates go up next summer, now you know why—it’s no small job to keep that Blackstone clean!)
Lauren Plemons – Another third of the Social Committee and one of our shopping divas! Lauren hunts down deals, chops veggies, and brings smiles with glow sticks and treats for kids at the pool.
Rudy Ponce – The last third of our Social Committee, Rudy jumps in with the grounds crew too and has even spun tunes as DJ, keeping the good vibes flowing at social events.
Amanda Duron – Our “discount queen”! Amanda runs the Snack Shack, keeping inventory stocked and shopping weekly. From toilet paper to Skittles, she keeps us clean and sugared up!
Ben Bowman – One of our co-vice presidents, Ben helps manage the Snack Shack and staff. He's steady support and willing to pitch in.
Daleshia Bowman – Our tireless swim coach. Though she didn’t plan to coach, she stepped up and took charge. The kids loved having her leadership this summer!
Denise Nelson – Our Association Secretary. Brand new to the community, Denise jumped right in, bringing fresh ideas, organizational skills, and a wonderful spirit of involvement. We’re so grateful to her and her family for becoming such an important part of Loch Braemar so quickly.
Patsy Headley – Membership Coordinator and our well of knowledge. Each spring Patsy launches the pool pass program and ensures flawless access for members. Patsy has faithfully served for years but is nearing the end of her run. We’re incredibly grateful—and now looking for someone to learn the ropes. If you’ve ever wanted to be the hero who keeps summer smooth, here’s your chance!
Rebecca Kohan – New this year, Rebecca coordinated pool parties. If you booked a party, chances are you worked with her. From juggling schedules to staffing and payments, she kept things seamless. Thanks to her, we had a smooth, meltdown-free summer of celebrations.
Michele Nichols – Oh… and me. The other half of the pool co-chair position, I’m usually the woman swimming laps, chatting with everyone, and helping wherever needed. I’m also the person behind the weekly emails. The pool is my Happy Place, and I love being part of the energy, laughter, and connections that make this community so special!
So as you soak up the last days of summer this Labor Day weekend, take a moment to thank these incredible volunteers. Whether they’re behind the grill, in the pump room, coaching swim strokes, or answering emails, they’re the reason we have such a special place to gather. Next time you see them at the pool, give them a wave, a high-five, or a heartfelt thank-you—they’ve earned it!
One last add to this email - A big Thank You to all of the kids that worked as Lifeguards and Gate Guards this summer! We've got a great bunch of kids and can't wait to see you in the spring. Have a great school year!
