Two of our group (PICV) teamed up with Manchester Paranormal Investigatiors (MPI) of Manchester Conneticut over the 04 JULY 17 Holiday weekend. We tackled Eastern State Penitentiary in Phildelphia PA. It was 5 investigators plus two ESP security personnel, and one very large institution. The penitentiary was built in the mid nineteenth century, with very thick cement walls. This logically presents the cement holding the cold, or heat as it was in our situation. It was quite warm inside to say the least. I guess Mr. Carrier the inventor air conditioning was not consulted on the build. One bright spot. The central command room for the investigators was nice. Nice and cold. We actually saw two Penguins skate by. I think they were visiting from Pittsburgh.
The penitentiary layout was a wagon wheel pattern with a few later additions including death row. (No executions were carried out at ESP. I believe I was informed they were done at a Maryland institution.) The team at ESP has done a outstanding job of only of being great hosts, but doing a fantastic job with restoration and clean up.
Referencing the investigation... Robin and I really enjoyed ourselves. We caught no EVP's with our hand held digital recorder, but the static digital has not been listened to at length for evidence yet, nor all of the digital DV cam footage. We had a trigger object session with MPI at the end of the investigation. I am looking forward to seeing what they caught there and evidence through out their evening.
Thank you again Dave Raby for the invatation and the great company. Your team was great. I learned new ideas from your style of investigating. One last word. If you come to ESP for a night of challenging investigating, the parking is great seeing you park behind the Penitentiary walls. But your over nite in and out parking at your hotel? It will set you back $39.00 a night. Gotta love it.
