Earth Day Project

On April 22nd, the Chesterfield Lions Club proudly completed the cleanup and restoration of the historic Craig Family Cemetery in Chesterfield, South Carolina as our Earth Day community service project.

Located near downtown Chesterfield, the Craig Family Cemetery is one of the oldest historic burial grounds in our community and serves as a reminder of the town’s earliest days. The cemetery is connected to the Craig family, including John Craig, Chesterfield’s first postmaster in 1804 and one of the area’s early civic leaders. Several prominent early citizens and founding families of Chesterfield County are believed to be buried there, making it an important part of our local heritage.

Over the years, nature and time had taken a toll on the cemetery grounds. Club members worked together to clear brush, remove debris, and help restore the site so this important landmark can continue to honor the memory of those who helped shape Chesterfield’s history.

We were honored to preserve a piece of our community’s heritage while celebrating Earth Day through service and stewardship.

What a great day for our Chesterfield Lions Club Par 3 Golf Tournament held May 2nd at Green River Country Club in Chesterfield!

We would like to sincerely thank the 25 teams who came out and participated, along with every sponsor who helped make this fundraiser a huge success. Your support helps us continue serving our community, and we truly appreciate everyone who played a part in this event.

The lowest score of the day came from the C Division, where two of our own Lions Club members, Barry Teal and Gabe Watson, fired an impressive 47 on the 18-hole par 3 layout!

The A Division was extremely competitive and ended in a 3-way tie at a score of 49. After the tiebreaker, the team of Jay Cato and Nelson Hendrick claimed the division win over the teams of Fred Rivers/Lawrence Hammonds and David Gulledge/Charles Chapman.

In the B Division, a score of 50 was enough to secure the victory as Adam Caskey and Nick Dixon were able to hold off the rest of the field.

Again, thank you to everyone who supported this event in any way — from players and sponsors to volunteers and supporters. We look forward to hosting another tournament next year and making it even bigger and better!
