The Nia Center was dedicated to providing artistic, educational, and cultural enrichment opportunities for underserved children and youth in the Chester community. The Nia Center (TNC) was a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization with a mission to provide artistic, educational, and cultural enrichment opportunities to the underserved children, youth and families of Chester Upland School District and v

icinity. TNC, was incorporated in 2004 and coordinated events and activities year round; After School Programs, Summer Camps, and also the Will Trippley Mentoring Program in cooperation with the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, PA. The Nia Center, historically, was a proud founding member of the Chester Youth Collaborative, recognized as the premier resource for quality youth programs for the city. Preschools, Senior Centers and local residents also participated in many of Nia Center events, providing cultural enrichment services for all ages whose purpose is community development where children learns to view the world as a place filled with possibilities and hope. This page is maintained as a forum to share information about activities and community events that continue to support Chester children and families in the legacy of its founder and director Delores Freeman Clybourne.

Next Sundays coming up! Register to Race this Sunday 4/19 - it's all Free and FUN!!

Race one is in the books, and these kids showed UP.

Last Sunday's first race of the Spring 2026 Healthy Kids Running Series season was everything we hoped it would be. The energy was incredible, the kids were amazing, and we are so proud of every single child who crossed that finish line. We are also thrilled to share that several campers used our new noise-canceling headphones for the first time, making sure every child could fully enjoy every moment on that course.

And the good news? There are still four Sundays left, and registration is open.
If your child missed race one, do not let them miss race two. This Sunday, April 19th, at 3:00 PM at Subaru Park in Chester, PA. Bring the whole family and come cheer these kids on. The more the merrier.

Let the "Healthy Kids" Racing Series Begin! This Saturday!! Registration is open for one and all events ($6). So Much Fun for kids as young as 2 and up to high school! Check out all the details and build our community connections!

Ready, set… let’s GO, Chester! The very first race of the season is almost here!

On Sunday, September 14th at 4:00 PM, kids will take to the indoor track at WSFS Bank Sportsplex for the kickoff of Healthy Kids Running Series. Imagine the excitement of the starting line, the cheers from the sidelines, and the joy of kids finishing strong — it’s all happening right here in our community.

This is a simple, one-hour Sunday activity that gives your kids a chance to get moving, make friends, and build confidence — and gives parents a chance to be their biggest cheerleaders. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Spots are still open, but we want to see Chester families filling that track with energy. 💙
