As the year comes to a close, we want to thank our community for the continued support of 9th Street YCC.

Because of our partners, volunteers, and donors, this year marked a record level of impact for our work in Chester, PA including expanded tree planting efforts, neighborhood cleanups, and community beautification projects led by and for local youth.

On August 2nd, our Environmental Youth Corps enjoyed a field day filled with outdoor activities, including a lively game of kickball.

At 9th Street Environmental Youth Corps we believe in connecting youth with the outdoors to foster both physical wellness and emotional growth.

Spending time in our parks and along our trail systems provides lasting benefits and we had a wonderful time together.

Interns from Monroe Energy, LLC worked with 9th Street YCC to clear sidewalks along Rt. 291 that had been buried under dirt for two full blocks.

They also trimmed branches, cleaned tree pits, removed weeds, picked up trash, and cleared debris around each tree.

Their efforts made the area cleaner, safer, and more welcoming for everyone who passes through. They’re looking forward to returning in the fall to continue uncovering even more sections.

Special thanks to the City of Chester for providing trucks to help collect the dirt and debris.

🌳 Our 9th Street YCC students took part in the Tree Checkers Training at Eyre Park, hosted by the Philadelphia Horticultural Society.

Chester was proud to welcome the event at Eyre Park, right at the 9th Street YCC Environmental Center.

Our students learned how to assess tree health and joined in great discussions throughout the day.

🌳 Last Wednesday the 9th Street YCC Environmental Youth Corps was out in full force at Eyre Park in Chester PA.

They spent the day spreading mulch, maintaining trees, and making sure this important green space stays healthy and beautiful for the community.

Their energy and commitment to service were on full display. They came together to protect and support the park’s natural landscape.

Efforts like these not only strengthen our environment but also bring people together around a shared goal of creating a greener, more vibrant Chester.
