9th Street YCC

A few photos from our latest Environmental Youth Corps session. Our young people spend this time learning about sustainability, trees, and caring for the environment right here in Chester — hands-on, out in the field. Thanks to volunteer Howard Toller for helping make it happen. 🌲

9th Street YCC has a new truck, donated by board member Charlie Thomas. This will help us haul trees to planting sites, carry water for summer watering runs, and move tools and equipment across Chester. Thank you, Charlie! This makes a real difference in what our young people can get done.

Today was our 3rd year partnering with Monroe Energy Employees College Youth Program. They help clear the dirt and trash while 9th Street YCC trimmed the trees along the way on the south side of Rt. 291 in Chester, Pa..
You can now walk all the way down the south side of Rt. 291 through Chester from Trainer without tripping over dirt and grass and low branches of trees.
Also by trimming the trees cars and trucks have a better view of the intersections on that side of the street helping to prevent car accidents.
This project took 3 years to complete with the help of Chester Streets Department, Delcora and Harrah Casino.
I thank the youth of 9th Street Environmental Youth Corp program for coming out and volunteering over the years.
Everyone work very hard, I thank you for making Chester a little bit better.

It was my pleasure to partner with The AKA Sorority planting trees in Ethel Waters Park that they have adopted.
