A quarter century after the September 11, 2001, attacks, 100 million Americans are too young to remember the day that changed our city and nation forever. It is our shared promise — made 25 years ago — to never forget so those born after 9/11 learn its significance and enduring legacy. As we commemorate this anniversary, a new generation will learn about the unimaginable loss we experienced and the inspiring stories of bravery, compassion, unity, and service that we witnessed, and have rippled through the decades.

The names of all 2,977 victims are engraved in bronze on the 152 panels at the twin towers in New York City. The names of the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing on February 26, 1993, are also engraved on the panels. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum opened on the original World Trade Center site in May 2014.

The 25th anniversary of 9/11 is a powerful symbol of profound remembrance, national resilience, and the enduring promise to "never forget" the innocent lives lost and the courage shown by first responders.

This Labor Day, we honor the dedication, resilience, and hard work that strengthen our communities every day. As we unfortunately find ourselves back in a place in time where women and people of color are discriminated against in the workplace, we must never forget that we have always had to let our voices and struggles be heard. It wasn't easy then, and these are, without a doubt, challenging times for Americans, including in the workforce. The attempts to take us back to darker times in history are prevalent and advancing quickly. We must stand proud and affirm our power as citizens. We don't have to allow AI, bias, discrimination, or organized crime to determine who we are as Americans. We are great when we work together, and we can and have overcome the evilest of capitalists who attempt to persuade us that unethical practices are in our best interest.

August 28, 1963 — "I Have a Dream." ✊🏽 Today marks the anniversary of one of the most powerful moments in American history.

Where were you when Martin Luther King Jr. stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial before hundreds of thousands of people gathered during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom?

He delivered a speech that would become known simply as "I Have a Dream."

King spoke about racial injustice, freedom, equality, and his hope for a future where people would not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

What makes the speech so enduring is that it wasn't simply a speech about the problems of 1963. It was a vision of what America could become.

The words reached far beyond the crowd standing on the National Mall that day. They were heard across the country through television and radio, and they became part of the American story.

The March on Washington itself was a remarkable moment, bringing together civil rights leaders, labor organizations, religious groups, and ordinary Americans demanding meaningful change. Just months later, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 would become law.

More than six decades later, King's words remain familiar to millions—but the setting matters, too.

Imagine standing there that August afternoon in 1963. The Lincoln Memorial behind him. The Washington Monument in the distance. Hundreds of thousands of people listening. And a voice carrying across the National Mall with a message of hope.
