🎉 Happy Birthday, Chester Heights! 🎉
On this day in 1945, the Borough of Chester Heights was officially incorporated in Delaware County, PA. While our incorporation is now 80 years in the making, our story stretches back into the 1700s.
✨ On August 6, 1945, 108 property owners petitioned the County to create a new borough, and on September 21, 1945, Chester Heights was born—separating from Aston Township to become its own community.
📚 Fun fact: even back then, 16 of those property owners believed they lived in Wawa. But together, they still chose the name Chester Heights for their new town!
The very first borough meeting took place on January 7, 1946 at Rosehill School on Llewelyn Road. And as local legend tells it, the judge insisted Chester Heights could only be incorporated if we had a fire company—leading to the creation of the Chester Heights Fire Company in 1946. 🚒
✨ Celebrate with us on October 4th at the corner of Llewelyn and Valleybrook Road—the very spot where our fire company, the reason Chester Heights was able to exist, still calls home.
