Immediate Press Release
D2 Youth Sports and the Boiling Springs Youth Athletic Association, in a joint effort with the Spartanburg County Parks Department and Spartanburg School District 2, are pleased to announce that we will be merging to become one league. This is in an effort to better serve the community of Boiling Springs and surrounding areas.
Danny Rising President of D2 Youth Sports, and Randy Piazza President of BSYAA will work together as co-presidents, and both Boards will work together to oversee the merger of these two organizations.
The Spartanburg County Parks Department has agreed to lease the existing athletic facilities on Bryant Road. This property was previously maintained by the BSYAA. The Parks Department has stated they plan to undergo a master planning process for the development of these facilities. These renovations will give the Boiling Springs community the opportunity for growth, and provide better resources to our athletes and their families.
“We’re excited to be able to serve the youth in this part of Spartanburg County and we look forward to continued partnership.”
-Kristen Guilfoos, Spartanburg County Parks Marketing Manager
An outgrowth of these two organizations’ merger and new partnerships will be an increased focus on developmental programs for students who plan to play at the middle and high school level in Spartanburg School District 2. We will work closely with coaches at the schools to ensure continuity of expected values, training, and methodology for our student-athletes from the time they are in elementary school through their high school years.
“We are committed to Making a Difference for Students Every Day,” said Superintendent Lance Radford. “By being a part of this exciting endeavor, we are helping to provide our students more opportunities to reach their highest potential both as productive young people in our community and as athletes.”
This will be the most significant endeavor undertaken for youth sports in Boiling Springs. Currently the combined organization serves nearly 2000 young people in our community, and we expect that this new investment, paired with the growing population, will see that number grow exponentially. The future is bright for youth sports in D2!
