The FRATERNAL ORDER OF EAGLES BERKLEY AERIE #795 is the second oldest Aerie in the state of Virginia. Aerie #795 was Chartered September 1, 1904. It was the fourth Aerie chartered in the state of Virginia; the first two were: Norfolk Aerie #163 chartered September 1st 1901 and Portsmouth Aerie #558 chartered February 1st 1904. With the dissolution of Aeries 163 and 558 their membership transferred to Aerie 795.

The FRATERNAL ORDER OF EAGLES was founded in February 1898 by six theater owners gathered in a Seattle shipyard to discuss a musician’s strike. After addressing the matter, they agreed to “bury the hatchet” and form “The Order of Good Things”. As numbers grew, members selected the Bald Eagle as the official emblem and changed the name to “The Fraternal Order of Eagles”
