Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? -Matthew 6: 28b-30

Relax your shoulders, unclench your jaw, remove your tongue from the roof of your mouth and take a slow deep breath in and out. Our God, who so carefully tends even to the wildflowers of the field, loves you and cares for you. He hasn't left you nor forsaken you, no matter what your past looks like. Seek Him, His Kingdom and His righteousness and trust that He is for you.

Let's talk mentorship! Did you know that this is how the relationships between us, our employees and our community will work through Hope House Coffee? It's not just employer to employee, it's all about mentorship and leading mentees in a way that glorifies God. We'll teach budgeting and finances, we'll talk through breaking sin and shame cycles, we'll be meditating through scripture together, we'll be a safe space to learn and grow - and hopefully we'll have you, our community, to come alongside and help us in this process.

"God is love" is something that we hear often. What does the Bible say about it?
Let's look at 1 John 4: 7-12
verse 7: Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.
verse 8: Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
verse 9: In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
verse 10: In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
verse 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
verse 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

This is just a snippet of scripture that points us towards God's love for us. There is no amount of earning or perfection that gets us closer to God, He sent His son to die for us out of his gracious love and mercy so that we could be in relationship with Him. No greater love is this!

Whether or not you feel it today friend, you are precious and loved. I think it's fitting this year that the first day of lent is also on Valentines Day. I pray that you will enter into this season feeling overwhelmingly and tangibly loved by God, that you will wear this knowledge cloaked around your shoulders into every hard place life takes you🩶

"The act of obtaining usable substances from unusable sources." This definition of recovery that I recently saw really hit differently. For some reason, the image I immediately pictured was of someone walking through their recently burned down house hoping to find their family photos untouched. The term recovery could used for obtaining data on a computer or SD card that was thought to have been destroyed. It's used when someone returns to a normal or healthy condition after taking a turn for the worse. But when I thought about "the act of obtaining usable substances from unusable sources" in regards to being in recovery from substances, alcohol, abuse, trauma, etc., I saw a single Mom trying to get back on her feet with a neon sign blinking "unusable source" over her head. And I thought about the person who wouldn't even bother going back in to the house for their pictures because it would be too hard, and the likelihood of finding "usable substances" would be too low to warrant the trip and the mess.
And that makes me think of Jesus.
You know who is an "unusable source?" Me. And you. And we are constantly burning down this good thing that God has given us and yet He comes back time and time again, traipsing through the charred, melted halls of our hearts to restore us back to Him.
This ministry is designed to help guide those who feel unredeemable to walk into the light, love, freedom, grace and mercy of Jesus. We feel called to bring life skills and healing to those who have been cast aside by society and remind them that it isn't too late, that they haven't been forgotten.
We're under no illusion that any of this will happen over night, although admittedly, sometimes it's hard to be patient. God has given our founder Liz such a clear vision of what this ministry could do over the next 5-10 years, and all we can do is take each next step in obedience, sit back, and watch God work. If you want to partner with us in these crucial building years, find out how at https://www.loveremained.org/partner - we'd love to have you on our team!
