🚨🚨HELP NEEDED FOR MY LONG LOST COUSIN AND HIS SON🥹🚨🚨

Hey guys I just want to say thank you again to EVERYONE for all of the support yesterday with my event. I've just been high on life with all the support and congratulations coming in all day 🫶
I'm really really needing yall to pull together right now to help me with a personal matter. My cousin who I haven't seen or talked to since I was somewhere between 10-13 reached out to my dad today just needing help with a ride. They also haven't talked in a while and didn't know he lived in TN now. I do remember him and his brother when I was young (they were about 8 years older than me) and going to their house and their mom babysitting me but we weren't super close. His dad was murdered when he was 9 years old. His mom then fell into depression and alcoholism leaving him and his brother at 11 years old in the house while she slept and not taking them to school. He then went and slept under the chuchland bridge as a CHILD because his mom was beating him so bad. He was in a bad car accident at 19 leaving him in a wheelchair for 8 years. Thank god he can walk now, but that led him to over using prescribed pain pills and the doctor selling him extra out of the back of the office. They eventually got shut down which unfortunately led him to street drugs. Praise the lord he's coming up on 5 years clean now and doing amazing in that sense!!!!! 🎉
He unfortunately then lost his wife/his sons mother a couple years ago due to cancer and he's lost his car and job and pretty much everything just trying to stay afloat.

He got hired at a Verizon and thankfully has orientation tomorrow!!!!! He's needing help with a ride for his orientation tomorrow if anyone is available?! He lives in Port Norfolk and his job is in Virginia Beach on the line of Norfolk by the airport. It's at 10 am and only for an hour.
He's then also going to need help Monday thru Saturday just for 2 weeks until he gets a paycheck to get to work. He'll be working from 11 am to 8 pm. If anyone can help out with any days at all or if we can get some money raised so he can take Lyft just for his first 2 weeks and then once he gets paid he can pay for it himself. It's looking like on Lyft (I know uber is cheaper but it won't load on my phone right now) is about $32 one way. If anyone can help with a ride or a dollar it would mean so so much to me. He's had a super rough life and just trying to get back on his feet for his son.

He's also needing some work clothes like a suit jacket size large and size 34x32 dress pants and size 10.5 dress shoes if anyone has anything like that lying around. I feel extra bad on this one being my family and really trying to do all that I can to help!!!
He also told me a long story about him befriending a houseless veteran on the street and getting him a hotel and helping him get all of his documents straight and eventually into housing 🥹🥹🥹

I almost forgot to give a very very huge thank you (stupid adhd 🤣) to one of the most special and important people that helped me yesterday, one of my dear close friends Carol Brown
She's the one that helped me come up with the idea for this. She is always there for me absolutely ANYTIME I need help with my nonprofit. She bought a bunch of purple pieces of fabric and sharpies and had people write the names of their loved ones lost to an overdose and write a message to them. We're going to tie them all together in a sort of flag/banner and keep adding onto it every year with a different shade of purple. Thank you for everything you did and for helping with watching my table all night while I was running around like crazy. I love you to death!!! 🫶

WOW!!!
I have no clue where to start I'm at such a loss for words. My international overdose awareness day event last night was ABSOLUTELY BEYOND INCREDIBLE!!!!
I am just in shock and in awe at how many people showed up and how smoothly everything went. I couldn't have possibly dreamt up a better event. We had a few organizations cancel last minute, but that's ok because we had a couple organizations call yesterday to set up as a vendor so that all worked out perfectly!! Including myself and my partners Project Phoneix we had 19 organizations set up!!!! 🎉

I want to first and foremost give the BIGGEST thank you to Rachel the owner of Cooper's Restaurant for allowing us to use the building to host this event. Not only that but for purchasing 70 something hamburgers, 70 something hot dogs, and having her staff cook them all for us!!

I want to thank Keith and Shelia Epps of Project Phoenix for partnering with me to come up with this amazing event that is now most DEFINITELY going to be an annual thing!! Everyone come out to their recovery meetings every Monday night at Cooper's from 7-8 pm. They're amazing people and it's completely welcoming, friendly, and non judgemental.

Thank you to Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers for donating a case of chips and allowing us to use your napkin dispenser full of napkins.

Thank you to Chick-fil-A Portsmouth Blvd. for donating 50 sandwiches which completely flew first thing last night. Lol. Thank you to both restaurants for continuing to support us and everything we do!!

I want to thank 13News Now - WVEC for coming out to interview us. Not only that but to Brittany one of the best reporters who actually stayed and sat and listened to most of the panel 🥹

A GIGANTIC thank you to Mike FO for hosting our amazing panel of speakers last night. I definitely could not have done this without him. He's been such a huge impact and inspiration to me since meeting him about a year and a half ago and one of my absolute BEST community partners. He's one of the few people like myself actually out there in the trenches helping people 💜

Thank you to every single vendor for showing up and giving out your resources and information. Thank you to my incredible "nana" Susan Burt for making our super adorable narcan and overdose awareness cookies and to Malia Lyen Patterson for making a ton of cookies and cupcakes.

Thank you to Lightbeam Solutions for not only setting up but also donating money to us in order to get all the drinks and chips.

AND THANK YOU TO EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT SHOWED UP AND SUPPORTED MY FIRST EVER EVENT!!!!!! This community is what makes all of this possible and I am so over joyed and just can't stop crying and smiling from all of the amazing good that came out of this.

Today being the 1st of September marks national recovery month. Just know you're not alone, there is hope, and we do recover.

Today is international overdose awareness day!!! A day to remember those tragically lost to an overdose and to be there and to support those that are still struggling with the disease of addiction.

I present to you my banner to honor those lives lost to overdose!!! Thank you so incredibly much to everyone that sent in a picture. This project was one of the most meaningful things I've done and I'm so honored to be able to help these special peoples memory live on 🥹💜🫶

I'm super excited for my event tonight International Overdose Awareness Day but it's also a sad and heavy day. The picture in the middle is my beautiful best friend John Jones. It will unfortunately be 10 years on September 10th since he passed away from an overdose. We had been friends ever since kindergarten, one of my longest friends ever. His death was the worst grief I've ever experienced in my life, couldn't sleep or work for about a month from terrible nightmares constantly and just being depressed. But I turned that pain into purpose and half of the reason I do what I do today to help people is in his honor. Every person I get off the streets and into rehab I hope he's looking down on me proud. I will always always continue to advocate for people that use drugs and drill into everyone's head that you should always carry narcan whether you're around drugs or not. I will always be available to take someone to rehab regardless if it's their first time or their 10th time. People fighting this terrible disease are still human and still deserve love, respect, and compassion.
I love you John and not a day goes back that I don't think about you 🥹
