We’re growing—and we need your help.

Join us for a Volunteer Night on Tuesday, Sept 23 anytime between 5:00–7:30 PM. It’s open house style—come for an hour whenever you’re able and jump in where you can.

We’re getting our training center ready for the next class and would love your help. Whether you’re handy or prefer admin-style tasks, there’s something for everyone:

-Assemble tables
-Light painting
-Laptop setup
-Participant handbook assembly
-Classroom and supply organizing

Pizza and drinks provided.

Location: 911 B Street, Suite 106, Chesapeake, VA 23324

Optional: Bring snacks to help stock our classroom pantry—many of our participants come to class without food.

Most helpful items include:
Microwavable mac & cheese cups
Ramen cups
Oatmeal packets

Become an Ally for Our October 2025 Cohort!

Many of us have volunteered by serving meals, packing boxes, or helping at events. Those things matter. They bring presence, care, and dignity to our communities.

But this opportunity is different.

At Neighborhood, we believe the most powerful kind of volunteering is when you commit to a person, not just a task.

When you volunteer as an Ally, you are offering your presence, encouragement, and friendship to someone who is working hard to rebuild and reimagine their future. You’re saying, “You don’t have to walk this alone.”

This isn’t just going deeper. It’s volunteering for a person, to ensure they have the support, belief, and community that success often depends on.

What’s an Ally?
An Ally is someone who shows up, listens, encourages, and builds trust. You’re not expected to be a mentor or expert. You’re simply invited to walk with one of our Leaders (program participants) over the course of six months, helping them stay motivated, feel seen, and know they belong.

What Makes This Unique
Yes, this is a volunteer opportunity where the sole purpose is building friendships and supporting someone who is pushing toward a stronger and more stable future. It’s meaningful, but also really human. You’ll laugh, share meals, celebrate wins, and be part of a story that changes lives, maybe even your own.

What’s the Commitment?
Timeline: October 2025 through March 2026
Engagement: Every other Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM for Community Gathering, plus regular connection with your team of program participants.
