On Saturday, the 20th of September, at the Chesapeake Conference Center, the Mayor’s Sixteenth Annual Veterans' Breakfast. was held. The event was hosted by the Chesapeake Mayor’s Commission on Veterans Affairs. 136 people attended the affair, which included veterans, city / state officials / dignitaries, election candidates, and a congressman.

Seven Tidewater Virginia High School Graduates With Marine Corps Backgrounds Earn College Scholarships.
12 July, Detachment 853, awarded educational scholarships to seven exemplary high school graduates in recognition of their academic achievements. Each recipient was granted a $500 scholarship to provide financial support for unanticipated or urgent expenses related to their college preparations.
Six of seven scholarship recipients and twenty family members attended the presentation.
