Chesapeake Amateur Radio Service

Chesapeake Amateur Radio Service Chesapeake Amateur Radio Service is an Amateur "ham" Radio club in Chesapeake, Virginia. These two repeaters have an effective range of about 30 miles.

Since 2005 the Club has met at the old Firestation at 116 Reservation Rd in Chesapake, VA in the Great Bridge area. The club has grown from a small club of 20 some members to close to 100 dues paying members. The club supports the Tour de Cure bike race that was held in Chesapeake for many years and is now held in the City of Suffolk, VA

The club owns the 146.820 and 444.000 repeaters that are lo

cated at the Butts Station tower located next to Chesapeake City park. The club also operates the 146.61 repeater located near the Bower's Hill section of Chesapeake.

Bill N3WM, Johnny W1EMM, and others operating HF on the USS Wisconsin today using the N4WIS club call. This weekend is Museum Ships on the Air. The band conditions were terrible but we made it work on SSB and CW. Many of Chesapeake Amateur Radio Service members are also members of N4WIS.
