Last night, as temperatures dropped well below freezing, our firefighters were operating at two separate structure fires in challenging conditions.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to our Chesapeake CERT members who responded to staff our Rehab Unit and support our crews on scene. Their dedication ensured our firefighters had a warm place to rest, rehydrate, and safely reset before returning to work.

That kind of support makes a tremendous difference during extended operations, especially on nights like this.

We are incredibly grateful for the commitment, professionalism, and heart our CERT volunteers bring to the Chesapeake Fire Department. Your willingness to step up in freezing temperatures to serve alongside us does not go unnoticed.

Thank you for being part of the team!
