Evening Prayer: Talking to God should not appear like a child awaiting a scolding. Understand that your prayers build a relationship with God and that, as much as we want all that we pray for, some things won't happen. Understand that God's “no” can be a shield for us from ourselves.

Father God, we come bearing thanksgiving for you moving on our behalf. For you not allowing some prayers to manifest simply because we weren't ready or couldn't handle what we prayed for. Thank you, God, for protecting us from ourselves, knowing that if something had manifested sooner, we would not have moved as the holy spirit directed us. So, God, we thank you for the “No,” and because that “No” wasn't a punishment, it was a plan.

So God, grant us the patience needed to operate in your will, and grant us the confidence to come to you not just because we are in need, but with thanks, even when we feel we aren't worthy of what you have done in our lives.

We come convicted on this evening, with a heart willing and open to accept the “Nos,” but also confident that you won't let me destroy myself because of the “No.”

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We often go into times of prayer, but we neglect to include the future, meaning those who are coming behind us. We focus on their behaviors but never their calling. So include the youth in your prayers this afternoon.

This afternoon, God, we come to you, stepping in and interceding on behalf of our children. God, we ask that you hear our hearts' cry to you and be the voice for those who are voiceless, be the connection from you to our youth, oh God, so that they can discern your voice from man's.

Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of our children as the school year comes to an end, and may the influences that often try to distract them be overcome. We pray that they are covered, that they hear the voice of the Lord, and that they establish a relationship that can't be broken, even when it gets shaky. They won't turn away from the Lord we serve.

Allow their minds to be at peace with who they are as they are uniquely made in the image you established for them. God, we ask that they understand they are not strange or weird; the kingdom is full of peculiar people just like them, and they are never alone there.

That is our prayer on this day,

Amen.

In your prayer this morning, let’s pray for a heart that is obedient and submissive to God. Often, we want the answered prayer but not the standards that come with it.

Heavenly Father, we come to you this morning, saying thank you first before anything else. We are grateful for what you have done in our lives. The fresh grace and mercy each day are the blessings we couldn’t thank you enough for.

Father, we pray that this morning you cover our minds and hearts. We submit ourselves unto you and open our hearts to your will so that our obedience is authentic and to what you have called us to be and to what you have called us to do. So we ask for your forgiveness for sins of commission and omission because now we know the standard we have to operate differently.

In the name of Jesus, we pray, Amen

Allow God to be God.

Sometimes we’re so focused on controlling every detail that we forget to trust the One who already sees the outcome. Just like hitting “Allow All” in your settings, give God full access to your heart, your plans, your worries, and your future.

When you stop fighting for control and start trusting His direction, peace follows. Allow God to be God, and watch how everything begins to work together for your good.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5

God, for this evening prayer. We prayed for mended relationships between you and us. God, we ask for so much but often give so little in our prayers. The reality is that we find ourselves outside your will and need saving.

But on this evening, we are seeking your face, not your hands. We are seeking your presence as we desire to be closer to you, oh God. We desire to be sharpened, to be in relation, and to be filled with the Spirit.

God, this isn’t a request; this is a declaration for this evening that our lives will be changed, all because our discipline changes and we become intentional about our relationship with you.

So God, we thank you for the fresh grace and fresh mercy you give us, even when we don’t deserve it, and for that we are grateful.

In the name of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.

Amen!
