Locals, especially (but not limited to) those who live or work in North Suffolk, Western Branch, Portsmouth: Please consider treating yourself to a Cold Stone Creamery (Harbor View) dessert on Thursday, June 25, any time between 12:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. When you place your order, please mention "Friends of the Animals" so that Cold Stone will make a 20% donation to us based on your purchase price. Dine-out fundraisers like this these help us assist with things like the cost of heartworm treatment for pets in or adopted from local municipal shelters, including those from the Suffolk municipal animal shelter.

Today is National Take Your Cat To Work Day! We're not sure much work will get done, but the occasion could make a Monday workday much more enjoyable.

If you don't have a cat (or enough cats) to enjoy life (and days like today) with, please consider visiting your local animal shelter or cat rescue to meet the many adoptable cats (of all ages, colors and personalities) available for adoption.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table today at the Waterway Market at Great Bridge Village, took flyers about our upcoming dine-out events, purchased raffle tickets for our July 15 raffle event, made donations, and/or let us tell you about our mission and how we pursue it! Our time at the event was a great way to celebrate Father's Day, the official start of Summer, and the "Dog Days of Summer," and our volunteers enjoyed meeting all the people and dogs, including the adorable, adoptable pups from Rebas Animal Rescue! Thank you, Waterway Market at Great Bridge Village and its vendors, for allowing us to join you today; we truly appreciated the opportunity.

It is a beautiful day to be outside. Please come stop by our table at Waterway Market at Great Bridge Village.

Tomorrow (Friday, June 19) is National Garfield the Cat Day! If you have room in your home and heart for a plump, dog-savvy, orange (ginger) cat, or any other cat, please consider visiting your local animal shelter and/or contacting a local cat rescue, to inquire about adopting (or fostering) your own Garfield.

It's "International Picnic Day," a day to take some time out from your busy schedule to spend time outside, enjoying a packed meal (or snack), solo or with friends and family. If you would like to enjoy such an outing with a new friend, please consider taking a shelter dog out on a picnic (locally, several animal shelters offer opportunities for you to take a shelter dog out for a field trip today), or using your lunch break to visit your local animal shelter to inquire about adopting or fostering so that you can host a shelter dog on several future picnics (or kittens, on picnics held inside your home).
