Coke Zero Sugar 400 CUP series. Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Julian Woods, 22, A sailor from Jacksonville, was killed on November 10, 2004, in Fallujah, Iraq. Julian was a star football player at Ed White High School in Jacksonville. He joined the Navy soon after graduation in 2000. “He was a joy,” Woods’ mother, Carolyn, tears streaming down her cheeks, told WTLV-TV. “They took my child, but I’m proud.” Woods was in the fourth year of a six-year enlistment. He had a 3-year-old daughter, Israel, who is with her mother, also in the Navy, based in Virginia. Carolyn Woods said she wasn’t told how her son died. But she said that when he joined the Navy, they both understood the risks and that it wouldn’t always be a peaceful job.

"...And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave. O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave." -Francis Scott Key

The flag has stood with our Army in every major conflict. Both Old Glory and our Soldiers represent the resolve, sacrifice and strength of our Nation.

"Our Flag does not fly because the wind blows it; It flies with the last breath of every Soldier, Sailor, Airman and Marine who died defending it." - Anonymous

Today, we honor both the Army's 250th Birthday and the 248th Flag Day, recognizing the sacrifices made for our freedom and the families affected forevermore. 🌹⭐ 🇺🇸
