🏆Adoption Update!🏆

Soul P Say has been enjoying retirement life for almost two years, and it sounds like he’s making the most of every minute! Stacey shared that he’s doing great and is very entertaining to watch out in the field with his buddy, Paddington. We love seeing our former racers enjoying the good life they deserve!

Thank you, Stacey, for sharing these wonderful photos with us. We love keeping up with our MAHR grads and seeing them thrive in their homes!

Some horses just make you wait for the right person—and Surf City Gold certainly did.

Today, that person came through the gate: Catia! She adopted Lovely Brown from us several years ago, and just wait until you see the video of how beautifully they’re going together!

Catia called about Surf, came out today with her trailer, fell in love with him, and… SURF WENT HOME!

Just like our buddy Relentless Lion, Surf waited a long time, but it was worth the wait. He found the perfect person, and we couldn’t be happier for him!

A HUGE thank you to the Thoroughbred Charities of America for their 2026 grant to MidAtlantic Horse Rescue!

TCA has been part of the MAHR story from the very beginning. Way back in 2002, when Ginny and Bev were just two gals with a dream, a plan, and a whole lot of determination, TCA awarded MAHR its first-ever grant.

And they’ve been there every year since.

For more than two decades, TCA has helped turn our dreams into reality—and, more importantly, has helped us help thousands of retired Thoroughbreds find their next chapters.

We are incredibly grateful for their continued belief in our mission, their unwavering support of Thoroughbred aftercare, and their partnership over all these years.

Thank you, TCA, for believing in two gals with a dream back in 2002—and for continuing to believe in MAHR today.

🦁 JUST LOOK AT RELENTLESS LION NOW! 🦁

Relentless Lion had quite the journey—from Puerto Rico to MidAtlantic Horse Rescue—and then spent a long time waiting for his person.

He was sound, but he had plenty of old track “jewelry” that made potential adopters look the other way. Then Nina called—and she came just for HIM.

And WOW… look at them now!

Nina has done an absolutely fantastic job with Lion, and we couldn’t be happier to see this once-overlooked horse looking SO fancy and thriving in his new life.

🏡TWO WAR HORSES. ONE PERFECT NEW HOME. 🏡

Doin’ittherightway & John’s Promise have officially found their happily ever after!

These two war horses retired from Delaware Park at the same time, after sharing their racing days—and their friendship. Each ran nearly 50 times, won around 10 races, and earned approximately $250,000 on the track. They gave their all, and when their racing careers came to an end, they were ready for something a little slower… together.

So when Theresa and Brian reached out looking for two horses to add to their beautiful new farm, we knew this could be something special.

And WOW—we couldn’t have asked for a better place for these two!

They arrived safely and have already settled in like they’ve been there forever.

Congratulations, Theresa and Brian, and thank you for giving these two best friends such an incredible new chapter!

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jacqui Sharp, a longtime and very special member of the MidAtlantic Horse Rescue family.

For many years, Jacqui served as our farm manager, dedicating countless hours to the horses and to MAHR. She was a familiar face around the farm, and her hard work, care, and commitment touched so many horses and people along the way.

Jacqui was truly part of the heart of MidAtlantic Horse Rescue, and she will be deeply missed by our entire team and the many lives she touched.

Please join us in remembering Jacqui and keeping her loved ones in your thoughts.

Remember our Louisiana horses? We wanted to give you a chance to check in and see how they’re doing!

These horses have already come such a long way, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to watch them settle in, relax, and discover what it means to simply be horses again.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated to help get these horses to safety and give them the care they needed. Your generosity has made a real difference in their journey, and we truly couldn’t have done it without you.

We’re excited to keep watching these guys grow, heal, and show us who they are—and we can’t wait to share more of their stories along the way!

🎉 ADOPTION UPDATE! 🎉

Anlon has officially found his people! Megan and her family were looking for a nice, well-rounded prospect who could be a great partner for her and her kids—and it didn’t take long for Anlon to make an impression!

When Megan came to the farm, Anlon walked right over and introduced himself from across the fence. We figured that was a pretty good start, so we pulled him in, hopped on, and let them get to know each other.

And just like that… Megan was in love!

We couldn’t be happier to see Anlon heading home with such a wonderful family. Thank you, Megan, for choosing to give this guy his next chapter !

Meet Turbo Promises — a pretty, unraced mare who has been patiently waiting for her moment, and we think she’s been worth the wait.

Turbo came to MAHR from her connections at Delaware Park nearly two years ago. She had been breezing when she developed a minor suspensory. Since she hadn’t shown much promise on the track, her connections sent her our way. She arrived sound, but we gave her plenty of time to fully heal.

Turbo has finally made her way to the main farm from our rehab farm, and now that we’ve caught up, we’re getting to see exactly what everyone at the rehab farm already knew:

This mare is special! Turbo was a farm favorite, and it’s easy to understand why. She’s lovely to watch move, incredibly personable, straightforward to ride, and seriously talented. She has the quality and athleticism to excel in just about any discipline.

And perhaps the best part? Her first ride in TWO YEARS is on video.

No lunging. No prep. No drama. Just Turbo.

She hopped right back into work like she remembered exactly what she was supposed to do.

🦄 Unraced mare
🦄 Barefoot & sound
🦄 No vices
🦄 Up to date on everything
🦄 Straightforward & personable
🦄 Talented mover with serious potential
🦄 Adoption fee: $2,000

Turbo is the kind of mare who could make someone a really exciting partner. Whether you have your sights set on the show ring, want a talented project to develop, or simply want a quality Thoroughbred with a great brain, she deserves to be on your radar.

And as always, Turbo comes backed by MAHR’s reputation for honesty and transparency. Plus, all MAHR adopters have access to our series of All Thoroughbred Clinics here in Maryland for FREE.

📩 Interested in Turbo? Send us a message to learn more about her and our adoption process. Or check her out on our website - https://midatlantichorserescue.org/horse/turbo-promises/
