Good things come in small packages~
Alex’s Sunshine came to us from her connections at Delaware Park. A daughter of the great Afleet Alex, she showed promise in the mornings but she bowed a tendon late in 2024 and retired. She has had over a year to heal and her leg looks great – we do not anticipate any limitations. She is a very sweet filly- she loves people and loves doing all the things. After she arrived at our main farm, she came in the barn, stood nicely to tack up, was super with the mounting block, and was happy to walk trot and canter both ways. She is a pretty mover, barefoot and sound with no vices.

This easy going girl will be a lot of fun to bring along in any direction.

Who loves a good war horse?
Savvy came to us from his connections at Delaware Park. He bowed a tendon in late 2022. His connections gave him time off and brought him back to training, but once he started his fast works, the tendon carried some heat so they retired him in the fall of 2024. He has had plenty of down time and is now happy to be back in work.

He is a super cool dude- uncomplicated to ride, and loves to hack out. A friend rode him in our latest TERF clinic and he took the intro to jumping in stride. Savvy is barefoot and sound, a nice mover, with a big barrel that takes up a lot of leg. He looks just like his grandsire, the great Tapit.

Update on the 3 skinny thoroughbreds we received last month. The photo on the left is how they looked when they arrived, and the photo on the right is how they look now. This is where your donations go, so thank you for making it possible for us to help them!

Original post from April 22
"We got a call from someone at Mountaineer about four thoroughbreds that had been abandoned and neglected at a farm. The authorities were called and the horses signed over, and this person was taking care of them while trying to find them homes- she found homes for two and asked if we could take in the other two. We sent our shipper out to pick them up- when she got there, our contact asked if we could take a third because she wasn't sure the home she had lined up was going to happen. All three are young and ran late last year. They loaded up and arrived safely at our quarantine /rehab farm. Beth and Joe have lots of experience and we know they are in good hands. We are told the person responsible for their neglect is being charged- we hope so! In the meantime, welcome to MAHR!"

Many thanks to Emmeline for this wonderful update! "About a year ago I adopted Infinite Series. He's been 100% fantastic and probably the chillest thoroughbred ever. He's an awesome jumper with an amazing mind. Thank you so much for pairing us up as its been the best experience ever with him."

Big solid mare
One start was all it took for her connections to realize she was not a racehorse. She was outrun at the bottom maiden level and had a knee with a little heat, so they decided to retire her early so she could have a great new career. Xrays show a little arthritis in the lower joint of her knee, so she should be ok for a low to mid level career. We can forward the rads upon request. Suzie is a big solid bodied mare- very personable and not at all mareish. Nice mover, barefoot, sound, no vices.
Video coming soon
