2024 Cherry Bowl Info
Cherry Bowl will be held at Erlton Swim Club located at 1505 Park Blvd. Cherry Hill, NJ 08002
Volunteers: We need to send confirmation of our volunteers to Cherry Bowl and need a lot of help. We have many families participating β please do not make us beg for volunteers. We also need a few donation items.
You can find the volunteer sign up genius at this link: https://m.signupgenius.com/ #!/showSignUp/10C084CABAF2FA1FECF8-50382711-cherry
Parking: General parking for Cherry Bowl will be in the parking lot at Cherry Hill National Guard (2001 Park Blvd, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002) or in the Erlton neighborhood. Please be aware that most streets only allow for parking on oneisde, as indicated by any street signs.
Be prepared to walk from your vehicle to the club. Please be respectful of the neighborhood and do not block any driveways or leave trash behind.
Please follow all signs related to traffic flows.
Warm ups: Warm-ups begin at 7:00 AM β 8:45 AM. Woodcrest is slated for the 7:30 AM time slot, so arriving by 7:00 AM is important! There will be a lot of traffic/walking so please make sure you give yourself enough time to get there.
Admissions: Admission is $10 per person at the gate.
Program Books: Program Books will be sold at the admission gate for $10 each.
Seating: Bleacher seating will be located on both sides of the pool. Try and save a few seats for friends!
Parade: Opening Ceremony/Parade is at 8:45 AM. Come with your parade "gear." At the beginning of the meet there is a parade of all of the clubs. Each club has a theme and theme music. Our senior swimmers have chosen the theme Rio (The Disney movie about Birds). Have your children dress in colorful outfits or like birds. Try and use what you have at home and try not to spend money.Make it work.
What to do while I am not swimming: Pack a cooler with food and snacks. Bring something to keep you busy (maybe a card game, or tablet/device). You can buy food there, but sometimes it is just easier to have snacks at the tent. There will be fun things to do, usually there are things like air brush tattoos, candy grams, and the like. It is more of a "carnival" like atmosphere when they are not swimming. This is a longer meet because each event has 2 heats. 12 clubs and only 6 lanes in the pool means that they will race each event 2 separate times and your swimmer will only be in one heat.
Chairs: Bring them! Your child will need a chair to sit on under the tent. Also send more than one towel. They usually drop theirs or make it gross at some point. Extra caps, goggles, and sunscreen are also great things to include. If you plan to hang out at the tent bring yourself a chair too. Rain gear, we will swim as long as there is no thunder. Be prepared.
Tent Drop Off: We drop our tents off the night before. It is usually a very relaxed atmosphere, you get to survey the club. We need a few volunteers to help set this up - please sign up!
Tent Parent: We need a parent(s) at the tent to follow the Remind text and tell swimmers when to head up to staging. All staging will be done through the Remind app. Swimmers from a small list of clubs will be on a group text with announcements. I did not divide it by event because I have no idea when they are starting staging. I divided it by time periods. To join the Remind group send a text to 81010 - text the message
Timers: We split up timing by event. This way youβre not stuck all day timing. The sign up has timing for each event and Woodcrest has been assigned to lane 5.
Clerk of Course is essentially helping get the swimmers from tent city to the pool. Again, this is divided up by event.
Awards are just doing ribbons! You can do ribbons, they're computer generated you just have to stick them and file them!
Tent Clean Up: We need someone who can clean up the tents and bring them back. Usually it is a family with 15-18 year old swimmers because they are there at the end.
Thank you and we look forward to another fun Cherry Bowl!
