Do you worry about things out of your control? If so, read this devotional I wrote especially for you.
Worry has a way of stealing our peace before anything has even happened. It fills our minds with “what ifs,” keeps us awake at night, and convinces us that somehow, if we worry enough, we can control the outcome. But Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:27, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Worry changes nothing except our focus. Instead of fixing the problem, it often magnifies our fear.
The truth is, God never asked us to carry tomorrow. He simply asks us to trust Him today. That doesn’t mean it’s easy. Sometimes anxiety creeps in even when we know God is faithful. But every time worry rises, we have a choice: hold onto the burden or place it into the hands of the One who already knows the outcome. Philippians 4:6 reminds us to bring everything to God in prayer instead of being anxious. Prayer may not instantly remove every fear, but it does remind our hearts that we are not fighting alone.
Whatever is weighing heavy on your heart today, give it to God. The same God who has carried you before will carry you again. His peace is greater than your panic, and His presence is stronger than your fear.
Prayer for my brothers and sisters in Christ
Lord, help me surrender the things I cannot control. When worry tries to consume my thoughts, remind me that You are already working things out for my good. Fill my heart with Your peace and teach me to trust You one day at a time. Amen.
