Chesterfield First Steps had a wonderful time participating in the Chesterfield County Library's Reading Revolution event today in Chesterfield!
Reading opens the door to imagination, learning, and lifelong success, and we were excited to join families and community partners in celebrating the joy of books and literacy.

The Reading Revolution continues all week long with events taking place throughout Chesterfield County. We encourage families to bring their children out to enjoy fun activities, discover new books, and create lasting memories together.

Don't miss this great opportunity to inspire a love of reading in your little ones. We hope to see you at one of the many events happening across the county this week!

At Compass Point Preschool, learning happens everywhere.

Splashing, scooping, pouring, and giggling — our 3-year-old classroom had the BEST time exploring outdoor water table play last week! 💦☀️

Water play is more than just fun — it helps little learners build fine motor skills, practice sharing, explore early science concepts, and stay cool while enjoying the sunshine. Watching their imaginations grow through play is one of our favorite parts of the day!

Our thanks to the 3K teachers - Ms. Chelle and Mrs. Leanna for all you do all school year!

We're excited to announce we're hiring 2 new positions to start in July for a new program we'll be offering this fall, Parents As Teachers!

The Parent Educator implements the Parents As Teachers model, emphasizing parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being in the work with families. Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curriculum – Prenatal to Four Years in culturally sensitive ways, the Parent Educator partners, facilitates, and reflects with families. The Parent Educator will work closely with all staff members of the local County Partnership (Chesterfield County) and Darlington County First Steps, South Carolina First Steps, and community partners.

A big thank‑you to all the families who joined us for our Compass Point Preschool math gathering! The children had a great time exploring numbers through hands‑on games, puzzles, and playful challenges. It was wonderful to see families working together, laughing, and celebrating each child’s problem‑solving skills. Moments like these show just how fun learning can be when we do it as a community.
