This was my autistic son putting up his felt Christmas tree today. After he decorated, he sat and cried for a while. After I asked him what was wrong, he replied, " I am sad because nobody will see my tree and all the hard work I have done " He then asked me could I post the image on my Facebook. So I obliged. Hope you pass the on so everyone can see Marks amazing tree. 🙂

Good morning friends! So very sorry to those of you who were unable to get into the Bank on Thursday for our meeting. I heard the bell ringing a number of times before I realized it was the Bank door bell. Apparently the cleaning crew came in after me and locked the door again. The 3 of us who were able to enter had a great discussion. Here's a summary:

We'd like to have a 3-on-3 basketball tournament on July 5th to benefit the Main City Basketball court and miscellaneous Park improvements. I've spoke with a number of the young folks who play ball there and they would love to be a part of that. We'll need someone to register teams and set up a bracket. We'll need some businesses to donate prizes as well. We'll need folks willing to bring flyers around the area. We'll also need some brave volunteers to donate their portable basketball hoops to bring to the parking lot at the Main City park so we have enough hoops to play 3 - 4 games at a time. I'll be stopping by the City Council meeting in the next few weeks to share details and ask for permission to use the parking and b-ball court for this purpose.

Also, we've tentatively identified November 15th as our primary date to hold a conflict resolution workshop catered by Panera and led by the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center. Our grant has been approved for this project and we'll be hoping to have at least 20-30 people come. The layout of the workshop will be Part 1: Learning your personal conflict strategy and how to be more healthy and comfortable as yourself in situations of conflict. Part 2: Learning how to be healthy in group conflicts in church, workplace, family, or community situations.

If that date does not work, we have a few backup dates for the workshop. They are: September 20th, October 4th, and October 18th.

Please share this status to let others in town know about these two upcoming opportunities to enjoy time together, bless our community, and grow in our love for one another!
