🇺🇸🍀 CHELSEA 4-H CHALLENGE: 100 CARDS FOR 100 VETERANS! 🍀🇺🇸

❤️🤍💙 CHELSEA, WE NEED YOUR HELP! ❤️🤍💙

Our Chelsea 4-H Club is taking on a special community service project, and we're inviting our entire community to join us!

We've learned that Midwest Honor Flight is in need of handmade cards and letters for the Veterans who participate in their Honor Flights. These cards are especially meaningful for Veterans who may not receive many letters from family or friends.

Sometimes, a simple handwritten note from a complete stranger can mean more than we realize. ❤️

💌 OUR GOAL: 100 CARDS FOR 100 VETERANS!

At our October 29th 4-H meeting, our members will be making cards to show appreciation for the brave men and women who have served our country.

But we don't want to stop at just our club members — we want to get the whole community involved!

🇺🇸 HOW CAN YOU HELP?

💌 MAKE A CARD!
We invite families, individuals, classrooms, churches, businesses, youth groups and community organizations to make handmade cards or write letters thanking our Veterans.

✂️ DONATE CRAFT SUPPLIES!
We're also looking for supplies our 4-H members can use to create their cards, including:

⭐ Construction paper and cardstock
⭐ Markers, crayons and colored pencils
⭐ Patriotic stickers and scrapbook paper
⭐ Glue sticks, stamps and stencils
⭐ Blank greeting cards and envelopes
⭐ Red, white and blue craft decorations

Have extra supplies lying around? We'd love to put them to good use!

🇺🇸 CARD GUIDELINES:

✔️ Address cards and letters to "Dear Veteran"
✔️ Please do not include a date so cards can be used throughout the year
✔️ Pictures, drawings and handwritten messages are encouraged
✔️ Please avoid political content, weapons and violent drawings
✔️ Most importantly, THANK A VETERAN!

🍀 WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

One of the most important parts of the 4-H pledge is:

"I pledge my hands to larger service."

We want our members to understand that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a difference. Through this project, they're learning gratitude, compassion, community involvement and the importance of honoring those who have served.

📅 Our card-making event will take place Thursday, October 29th, at 6:00 PM at the Chelsea Civic Center.

❤️ LET'S SEE WHAT CHELSEA CAN DO!

Our goal is 100 cards, but wouldn't it be amazing if we could send 200, 300 or even MORE?!

Every single card represents a Veteran who will be reminded that their service and sacrifices have not been forgotten.

🇺🇸 You don't have to know a Veteran to make a difference in their life. You just have to care. ❤️

👻 COSTUMES ENCOURAGED! 🎃

Members are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes! We'll have some Halloween fun while also working on a very special community service project! ❤️🤍💙

🇺🇸 100 CARDS FOR 100 VETERANS! 🇺🇸

We're kicking off our Chelsea 4-H Challenge to create at least 100 handmade cards and letters for Veterans through Midwest Honor Flight!

These cards will be given to Veterans during their Honor Flight to remind them that their service and sacrifices are appreciated and have not been forgotten.

💌 WE COULD USE YOUR HELP WITH SUPPLIES!

If you have any of the following materials you'd be willing to donate or bring to the meeting, they would be greatly appreciated!

✂️ Colored construction paper and cardstock
🖍️ Crayons, colored pencils and markers
🇺🇸 Patriotic stickers and scrapbook paper
✏️ Pens, pencils and glue sticks
🎨 Stencils, stamps and ink pads
💌 Blank greeting cards and envelopes
⭐ Red, white and blue craft supplies or decorations

You don't have to purchase anything! If you have extra craft supplies lying around at home, we'd love to put them to good use!

📢 WE'RE GETTING THE COMMUNITY INVOLVED, TOO!

I'll also be making a post on the Chelsea 4-H page inviting the public to help us reach our goal by making cards for Veterans or donating supplies for our members to use.

When you see that post, please take a moment to SHARE it! We'd love to get local families, businesses, schools, churches and community organizations involved. The more people we reach, the more Veterans we can show our appreciation to! 🇺🇸❤️

🍀 Help Chelsea 4-H Find a Donation Bench! 🍀

We’re looking for an outdoor storage bench like the one pictured to collect donated craft supplies and other materials for our club’s projects and community service activities throughout the year.

Does anyone have one they would be willing to donate? It doesn’t need to be new—just sturdy, in good condition, and able to keep supplies dry!

If you’d rather contribute toward purchasing one, we would love to recognize your generosity by naming the bench in your honor or adding a recognition plaque for you, your family, or your business. 💚

Our hope is to place it outside the Chelsea Civic Center so it can provide both seating and a convenient donation spot.

Hey all! I need to know if any of the kids want to compete in the state competitions. Sh***un - I need to know ASAP since tomorrow is the deadline for sign-ups. Here is the link to the form > https://forms.gle/q82AKfwr7svaexHK6

If anyone will need a ride, let me know and I could arrange for the school suburban a head of time. We will probably stay at a hotel the 23rd-25th since they are a good distance away but we can discuss that at the next meeting on 10/20.

Just a reminder that we have a meeting tonight at 6. We will start off at the civic center for our regular meeting and then go to the park for a water balloon fight. Please bring some water balloons, clothing to get wet in, and towels. Bathing suits can be worn under clothes. Anyone can join in! There is water at the park to fill up the balloons. We will have 2 areas, one for smaller kids and one for big kids.

If anyone needs me to pick up water balloons for them? They are $4 at Walmart right now. Let me know asap!

NOTICE: We have moved our meeting from the 22nd to the 29th. 6PM.

We will have our important part of the meeting at the civic center and then head to Mcspadden park for some water balloon fights. Please bring appropriate clothing and towels for the kids. Parents and siblings are more than welcome to join in!! If you can, please bring water balloons for your family if participating. This will not be a long evening just want to do something fun for the kids and reward them for all of their hard work!
