600+ barn quilts, can you imagine? Worth the visit 😊 We just love the joy and pride brought out by community art projects like these.

What started with a dozen barn quilts in Sheldon has grown to nearly 640 that blanket the region as part of the Franklin County Barn Quilt Trail. “My Grandma Thelma is still very present in this work. My mother, many years ago, passed on the unfinished patchwork pieces by my Grandma, to me.
They now inspire several works on the go and who knows what else to come. She was a strong , powerful, highly organised professional woman of her time. My great Grandma and her owned several pubs around Victoria and in Melbourne. They would have whipped those men into shape in the bar.
She was definitely a feminist of her time.”

Local friends there is a reception at SPA Gallery in Barre today from 4:30 to 6p for a group exhibit called Sharpen Your Pencils!
