What's the value in you?
In the picture below we have a generational representation using these coins. The coin on the left is the oldest, the middle being the next oldest, and then a recent addition on the right.
Everyone in life starts out as a bright and shining new coin so to speak. We come out fresh and new and are admired by all who look upon us. As we progress in life we pick up some scratches, some nicks, and scuffs. In the end, it appears we are past our point of outwardly pleasing appearance, our worldly worth depleted, as some put it, we are past our sell-by date. Battered, broken, bruised, bewildered, befuddled, and BS'd as one man recently put it.
The world only seems to value us when we are in the middle. We are strong, self-sufficient, and producing income. We are at that point aesthetically pleasing from the world's point of view. When we are young and starting out on the journey we call life, we are needy, we are users of things and not producers of things, however, we are still of value to the world, why? Because we will soon be in the middle. So if we start the training of the mind now, we will have them where we want them when they become useful to us.
Now when we get to the point where the world has seemingly worn the shine off us, that is when we become users of things and not producers, and then no longer of value to them, and in some ways we are now a detriment to their order of things. The shine is gone and they focus on the new coins, the fresh crop of future producers. I know right now you're saying dang this is depressing! Hold on the point is around the corner and down by the big oak tree. You'll notice quarters aren't arranged new to old, but exactly opposite. Why? Because in God's world that is the order of things.
In God's world we become more useful as we grow and learn, but make no mistake, if you were minted in the fifties or fifteen minutes ago, you have the very same value. Your value never diminishes throughout life. As we age and progress through the vault of life we become less to the world and more to the kingdom, but never do we change in value to the creator. Born a quarter, always a quarter. Amen? All you have to do is look up and not look around, that's where your value lies, and always has.
One last bit of encouragement for you. You are loved. You are cherished. You are never forgotten. You are a precious jewel in the crown Jesus wears. You are now and always will be a valued producing member of the kingdom workforce. If your breathing you have the voice God gave you to reach and teach for the enrichment of Heaven. You have the power to save through Jesus Christ. You, yes you! You are worth more than gold. The angels hear your story every day and praise God for it. Now, take a deep breath and praise him yourself. I love you, but more importantly, He loves you even when you don't!
